Hi
Has anyone tested or used the Horizon Kronos C3+ GNSS Receivers?
There is a dealer listing these nearby and they look like a good upgrade from our GPS & Glonass only receivers and Carlson Surve v3 to v5. At a good price.

I haven't but I see they have a nice small size. I looked at the specs and the main board is Trimble BD930. If you are currently using South equipment they may be BD970, I tried to find online what the difference would be but couldn't find a direct comparison. I did however find this useful Trimble site:

http://www.trimble.com/OEM_ReceiverHelp/v5.11/en/default.html#NMEA-0183messages_MessageOverview.html%3FTocPath%3DOutput%2520Messages%7CNMEA-0183%2520Messages%7C_____1

I presume they have it sorted out, but I would have thought a black receiver would get very hot in the sun.

Annother option at same price is Zenith 35 TAG with controller and software options, including the X-pad android software.
TAG is the Tilt and Go (tilt survey, e-bubble).
Anyone used these receivers?
They are bright yellow 🙂

Does this combo allow use of the tilt compensator?

Hi Richard

Sorry I didn't see your question. The G1-S is a simplified G1 that does not have the tilt compensator, and a reduced price to match. The new RTK kit is same price or slightly less than we paid for the S82-v RTK.?ÿ

K

I see, thanks. I understand that SurvCE does not have (at the moment) ability to run the tilt compensator anyway.

I was bored waiting for a fix under mature pine trees, and had time to take a photo.

Have to report that the South G1-S is not entirely relaiable under trees, good and usable on the periphery.?ÿ ??ÿ

My understanding is that the South units have Trimble boards. So if that is correct, is the ability to perform under trees related to the board, or the processing software on the DC (which I assume in this case is SurvCE?)?

Kronos C3+, Champion Pro, PrinCE are CHC M6 ( http://www.chcnav.com/index.php/service/download?id=427 )?ÿderivatives.

These things may be different:

> OEM Board?ÿ
> GSM Modem
> UHF Radio (definitely different)

They will share the same firmware across the 'family'.

We didn't but the Kronos.?ÿ

The South G1-s is the basic version with Trimble BD970 mainbroad, 220 channels, full satellite constellations.

The G1 has tilt compensation/e bubble, the G1 plus optional 555 channel, linux OS, web ui, ivoice, etc.

The performance under trees is limited for topo work even if the display shows plenty of satellites, you have to wait for a fix at times, and then repeat to verify if accurate.?ÿ

Galaxy G1-S and X-11 lite controller with Survce v5.07.?ÿ?ÿ
