Can some one with experience explain the process of using gnss to set up and establish control points on site to use for setting out works later with the total station . ???

First step, make sure they are inter-visible. Second step, run hard levels through all control points. Third make sure you take multiple observations on all points (at least three). And Lastly, make sure you follow proper GNSS procedures when selecting the point locations.?ÿ

For a small site my minimum is 3 control points, typically I hold my longest OPUS observation as the base. Also for a small site I first consider my traverse through those 3 points and see if my GPS is within tolerance. Generally you can tell even before adjusting the GPS to grid. It is usually very little extra work to have a 4th point. That still leaves me with 3 if one gets wiped out in the future.

You should fully test your work flow, several times with known control. I bet your vendor can assist you.?ÿ
