Hello,

Just wondering if anyone has got the RS4 working as a base effectively for Leica or Trimble rovers in UHF mode? By looking at the specifications it should work for either. Looking for some real world stories of it successfully working as i dont feel like buying a RS4 for a base without confirming it works.

Thanks in advance.

It looks like the RS4 UHF only modulates using the older GMSK.  While it should not be a problem because both Trimble and Leica are capable of receiving GMSK it is to bad since there are higher performance modulation types now.  It is the message type that will be limiting.  From experience working with multiple manufacturers equipment on the same site, unless you limit yourself to two constellations, RTCM 3.x / RTCM 3 MSM chokes on UHF.  The string is just too long.  For more than 2 constellations, you really need to use the manufacture's current proprietary message stream, which the RS4 does not support.

Now as an NTRIP base, I would guess it works great.
