Just found this little tidbit of history this morning. Had never heard of it before.

We initially tried to incorporate a presentation on the Borden Baseline into the Rendezvous this year.
Unfortunately, we never found anyone willing to take on the topic.
On the plus side, that topic is still out there for a future Rendezvous.

Simeon Borden was a cool guy. I became interested in his survey back around 2000 and did some visits to the Boston Athenaeum and the Massachusetts State Archives to copy the published reports of the survey (now findable online) and the mechanical drawings of his baseline measuring apparatus. In 2002, and a friend and I submitted the first recovery report since 1941 for one of his stations, HAWES HILL, in Barre, MA (PID MZ1504).
