I have a directory of old Topcon Tools projects that I want to thin out, and move to remote backup. My question is, do I need to still keep the original CORS and .TPS downloads (GPS observation files), or is the data imported into the project file, and therefore those files are redundant?
I might have answered my own question, here. I temporarily moved the observation files to a different directory, opened the reopened the project, and it seems process/adjust fine without using the original observation files. I'm pretty sure the previous GPS processor I used, Ashtech Solutions, did not actually import the GPS files in the project, and therefore could not reprocess the vectors if you deleted the original files. But it appears to me that Topcon Tools makes a single "portable" project file.
You are correct, the Tools project is a self contained file that stores all your raw GNSS data. However, I never advocate deleting any original data. Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it. If the Tools project gets corrupted, you would not be able to replicate the work done.
Yeah, good point. I was a little worried that moving the project from the current folder would break the link to the data files (which were in another folder) but it appears that doesn't matter. I'll probably just move both the project folder and the data file folder to the remote back-up, so that it's all still there if I need it. Thanks.
