All our Leica GS15 and 18t's can receive both VRS and iMAX based MSM4 corrections on the Florida FPRN network thru NTRIP Port 10000. MSM4 based corrections includes the L5 and Galileo signals, and have made a tremendous difference in canopy conditions.

A while back I picked up a clean used Trimble R10/TSC3 system, with the intention of experiencing firsthand all the hoopla re the "king" of GNSS. Well, I haven't found it yet. But, I'm sure it's because I'm a slow learner. It doesn't help either,that I have not been able to find anyone around these parts who uses Trimble.

So, I'm putting this question out there for some Trimble gurus who can hopefully steer me in the right direction. So far I have gone down the entire list of Trimble message type options, and none of them allow VRS based corrections using Galileo (have not looked to see what L5 is doing, but I think since Galileo is missing the L5 is likely missing too).?ÿ

The only time I have been able to track Galileo on the R10 is when I select (from the Trimble options list) "Multistation (RTCM)", which brings up the source table which includes "MSM4_Near". Although this will track Galileo sats, however, this is single base line based corrections. What I really want is the virtual reference station type of corrections. Either VRS or iMAX would do, but so far I am unable to get the R10 to give me the option.

Incidentally, I can select "VRS(RTCM)" in the Trimble options list, and the source table listing includes: "MSM4_VRS", and "MSM4_IMAX". However, when I select one or the other the satellites tracked listing does not include Galileo.

Surely, it must be something I am overlooking in the R10 settings. Some of my Galileo/L5 optioned GS15's are nearly 10 years old, and they are performing remarkably well.?ÿ ?ÿ

Any help at all is much appreciated.

I'm curious if you ever got an answer to your question or figured it out yourself? I use FPRN as well.

@kjac

Sorry to say I simply gave up. Thought it might be the firmware being a couple versions out of date. We use the R10 on some topo work, but all our boundary work is with the Lieca stuff.

Just so you know, and for anyone else that stumbles on to this thread, I emailed one of the head guys that run FPRN about this and got this response:

L5 and Galileo signals previously (before March of this year) were not included in our ƒ??networked solutionsƒ? (MAX & VRS).
L5 and Galileo is available through Single baseline.?ÿ
We added the L5 and Galileo in March of this year and then discovered through further testing that the solutions were suspect. During this time other networks were following the same trail and removed Galileo signals leaving L5. We opted for rolling back until a correct solution could be found. Single baseline solutions continue to have both L5 and Galileo included. This is achieved using the MSM4 mount points (40000 series)

Currently we are expecting to update our Networked solutions soon. Afterwards we expect to again include Galileo into the networked solutions.

I've recently tried out a Trimble R8-4 on the FPRN network and was able to get GPS, GLONASS, and Galileo... but only on the single baseline connection. The networked solutions connection was still only GPS and GLONASS. I've emailed FPRN again to see if they have any updates on when we might see Galileo in the networked solutions. I'll post an update here when I hear back from them (if I remember).

@kjac

So is that situation only for the Trimble equipment, or is it across the spectrum?

@kjac

Thanks for the info. Whenever I go out, it's always base/rover, because I would be missing sats by limiting my use to just those sats offered by the network. I never mess with the FDOT network, though some of my people use it occasionally. Haven't thought to ask (my people) about it lately.

@andy-j

The response from FPRN wasn't brand specific. I *think* most of them use Leica receivers.
