Wild T1AE theodolite for sale with several accessories.?ÿ Photos available upon request.?ÿ (c e kooper at gmail dot com).

?ÿ

I have an old-style T1A with erect image in near original condition.?ÿ It has the feel of a just serviced instrument with smooth motion of the telescope, leveling screws and slow motion screws.?ÿ The serial number indicates that it was manufactured in 1962 in a run of 2200 T1A instruments.?ÿ Overall, the instrument shows little use or wear (very minor paint scuffs on corners and edges)?ÿ The feet on the base of the tribrach shows that it was set on a tripod more than once.?ÿ The bullet case has a few scratches on the exterior, but no dents.?ÿ The interior still contains some Heerbrugg, Switzerland air!?ÿ ??ÿ

?ÿ

I used the instrument as part of my mineral survey retracements and underground mine surveying.?ÿ I had the reticle replaced with a solar reticle.?ÿ The instrument includes a screwdriver with two adjusting pins and two screwdriver bits and a sun shield.?ÿ The users manual is in mint condition (Th 153e - IX. 64) as is the promotional brochure for the T1A (Th 154e - VI. 59).

?ÿ

It comes with several accessories:

  • Diagonal eyepiece prism set with solar filter;
  • Diagonal eyepiece set in leather case;
  • Solar filter for eyepiece;
  • Circular compass (instrument has the compass bracket installed);
  • Objective pentaprism with counterweight and leather case (for use in transferring bearings vertically);
  • Electric illumination for night and underground work;
  • Wild battery box with hand lamp and extra bulbs; and
  • Wild XVIb tripod (The tripod is partially dissembled and needs a new coat of varnish and a couple of screws.?ÿ The leather tripod pouch needs replacement due to dry rot).

?ÿ

The instrument also comes with a Wild illuminated traverse set for the T1A (same H.I. as the T1A). The traverse set comes in a wooden box and includes two tribrachs, two targets (with plate level and optical plummet), and two lamps for illumination.?ÿ The tribrachs in the traverse set are interchangable with the instrument tribrach.?ÿ This is an older style of the T1A where the instrument and targets do not have three pins that fix the instrument and targets to the tribrach.

?ÿ

This setup is basically the Wild equivalent of an old mining transit with side scope.?ÿ While this would make a wonderful display piece, it is in great working condition and adjustment.?ÿ Any of the elder surveyors that responded to the thread on EDMs would want to take it out for a few sets to remind themselves of the smooth, fluid feel of the classic Wild instruments.?ÿ ??ÿ

?ÿ

I last used this with the diagonal eyepiece prisms in my hometown of Alliance, NE during the August 2017 solar eclipse.?ÿ It was a big hit with the kids in my dad's neighborhood.

Good evening -

Iƒ??m new to the site and just saw your post for the Wild T1A for sale.

Your description of the T1A with all of its accessories sounds impressive.

First, is the item still available?

If so, do you know how much you want to sell it for?

Thanks in advance for your reply,

Neville
