I bought a 500 when I started my own firm in 2000. Quickly outdated and best to put it in the nearest dumpster.

I've used the 1200 since 2005, with updates. If those units have not been updated they won't function and had best go to the dumpster as well. If I (me, personally) wasn't near the end of my cycle the keyboards might be useful since mine are scratched. If the units have been updated, then still a valuable piece of equipment, great for someone starting out.

The 500 may still be useful for static gps.  We have 300's still in use for static obs.

If the Leica 500 is still available, I am interested. I have a differing opinion than Bruce on the 500. They are still good receivers for static work. With an old tripod, tribrach and battery, I can leave it for overnight static sessions up in the Colorado Foothills without worrying about someone taking it.
