Greetings,

I recently purchased a used Topcon 8200 series robot and it looks like the unit was sitting around unused for some time with the 4 AA batteries in the RC-2R unit, which then leaked on the board. It appears that the corrosion lifted some conductive traces and the unit does not power up, even after cleaning the contacts.

Does anyone have a working RC-2 unit they are willing to part with? I'm not sure if the differences between the RC-2R, RC-2RW, RC-2ii, etc matters. Does anyone know if it does?

Thanks.

Thanks for the info. To the best of my knowledge (I could be wrong) the RC-3 will only work with the newer Topcon 9000 series. Still looking.

You might try sending JerryS an email. He works for Hayes Instrument and will either know which ones will work together or can find out.

Essentially there is not much difference in the various permutations of the RC-2, although the later ones may work a bit better.

Even the RC-2W which was the Bluetooth version of the RC-2 system works fine without the Bluetooth adapter in the way most people use them as an on-demand system where you press the quicklock button on the data collector, which tells the robot it is about to receive a pulsed beam from the RC-2, and then you would typically just press the button in the center of the RC-2 to trigger the beam.

And there is no backward compatibility for the RC-3 to work with any Topcon Robot other than the GTS-900/GPT-9000 series instruments.
