I always try to keep some backup equipment available if something were to happen we'd still be operational while whatever it is was in the shop getting repaired. One thing I'm shy on, is a data collector. We run Carlson version 4 so it would need to be something either that has that installed or that it could be installed on. GPS/robotics would be nice, but it's not a must. I just don't see the sense in getting a brand new collector to let it sit around and collect dust on a shelf.

I have an Allegro CX sitting around. It doesn't have the radio pod so you would have to go the Piranni style communication route if you want to drive a robot with it. It has Field Genius installed on it currently but if you have the licenses for your Carlson software I know it will work with that too. Let me know.

I have an Archer 2 with SurvCE standalone GPS 4.0 - that I might be willing to part with. Same as the Carlson Mini 2. It has a charging/download cradle and is in great shape with a clean screen. The standalone gps goes for $1250 retail, I think. It does not have TS and Robotics. It has been tested and works great with my Leica TCRP 1205 robot, with an LRBT handle. I use it as a backup/emergency collector and would be at around $2k on cost.

I have a Trimble TSC2 that I might part with. It doesn't have Carlson software in it but it's an awesome DC. It's part of the family so it wouldn't come cheap.

We have three TDS Recons that we are looking to sell. Their condition varies, but they were working the last time we used them. They do not have robotics enabled, but I "think" they have the gps module activated, but I need to check. They are running TDS Survey Pro.

Sorry guys, would like to stick w/Carlson, but I do have a question. On the non-Carlson units, can I not just simply install SurvCE?

You should be able to if you have the right executable (program file) for that platform.

If you are just looking for a backup you shouldnt have to buy a second Survce. Carlson has been very good to me for swapping licenses and module's between colletors. Ussually only takes me a few minutes.

We have a TSC3 and a Carlson Surveyor+ we may be willing to part with if the price is right we are looking to get a tablet. Also two TSC2 collectors with Survey Pro we do not use but unsure if Carlson will load on them.

I have SurvCE on a Ranger3. It is a 2.xx version that Carlson allowed me to install on the new D.C. They have been great to work with. I obtained a version of SurvCE when I bought my used RTK system in 2007. They allowed a license transfer from the original owner to me with a copy of the bill of sale. That collector died, and I was able to transfer to my Ranger 200T. That collector died a few years later, and they granted a slight upgrade to an older version that would run on the ranger 2. I sold that collector this year with my rtk system, and I transferred the license to my Ranger 3.
