I bought this DC from Cameron Watson a few months back. I just bought a new TS16 and CS20 and traded in my 1103+, so I will be selling this DC. I paid $1,200 plus shipping. I will do the same if interested. I did buy extra chargers for the SENA radios.
From Cameron's post:
3. Juniper Allegro CX $1,500
I used this to drive a TCRA1105 and it worked well. It does not have the built in radio pod. I used long range SENA Parani Blue Tooth radios to make the connection. Basically they trick the system into thinking the controller is connected to the total station with a cable. SENA's spec sheet says the radios are good to 1,000 feet. I never even tried to test that distance. Most of my work is in urban settings where not enough things will get out of your way to see 1,000 feet. They worked fine for me out to 500 feet, never tried much further. It has the monochrome screen which is super clear even in direct sunlight and is running Carlson SurvCE 1.65 with all the modules activated; TS, GPS, Robotics & Roads. It comes with both SENA BT radios and a charger for them, extra batteries for the radios, extra battery for the CX, charger and charging cradle and a really nice Pelican 1500 case. If you'll be using it with a Leica total station I also have all the necessary cabling to connect the radio, car battery and instrument. It shows signs of use but is in good used condition.
Thanks, Darryl

Darryl,
I'm a retired senior working part time for an older surveyor who is using Carlson 2006 (which I have used myself), used equipment and books all data - no electronic data collection. I have a 1990s era Pentax PCS515 that I bought from him and have surveyed the subdivisions on my property on both sides of the road. I've worked with him for three years, learning as I went. I'd really like to get experience with a data collector, but I have no idea whether your Allegro or any other collector will talk to my Pentax. If there was a way to know the answer to that I'd be willing to spend the money you are talking about. I'd like to hear any ideas you might have.
Thanks.

Do you still have this DC?
I do, Just sent you an email.
PentaxBob, I have no clue if this would hook up... I assume it would with the proper cabling. I have never used a Pentax.
Still have this.

What do you figure as the separate costs of the blue tooth radios and the Allegro CX? I see the newer MX version selling for around $1200. I checked with Juniper Systems and they expect the CX should communicate with my Pentax PCS 515, however they say the CX is "no longer serviced". Am I correct in assuming the radios connect to the total station and the Allegro via 9-pin connectors? I do have the 9-pin to Hirose connector cable that works with the Pentax.

Bob,
I would guess the radios would be a couple of hundred. Yes the radios act to connect the instrument and data collector in a robotic situation through 9-pin connectors as if there was a cable there.

Darryl,
Since SurveyorConnect switched over to this RPLS format I've yet to figure out how to move this communication to email as you did.
I assume you are the original purchaser of the Carlson Surv CE software. Do you know whether there are any issues around transferring the license to a new owner? Would you consider taking $1000 for the CX and radios or, alternatively, $800 for the CX and selling the radios separately? My problem remains that even if the Allegro communicates, the Surv CE program may still not recognize my Pentax.
I'm not the original owner. I have only owned it for a short time. I bought it to use with an older Leica instrument that I traded in on new equipment. How about we meet in the middle, $1100. with the radios(plus shipping)?

Darryl,
I just got a definitive word from Carlson that there is no version of SurvCE that works with my instrument. Sorry to have wasted your time, thanks all the same.

Well that is unfortunate.
Pretty sure this thing is still in my office... anybody need it? Make me an offer.

you will probably need to find the correct Instrument connecting cable to RS232 and try it on collectors until you find one that it will work on.
Most pentax wiring is the same and like some unique instruments, yours may not be on everyone's list.
The manual should have a wiring diagram to compare with collector manuals.
good luck
