Already a PLS in Mass.
Going to take the NH 2 hr exam in Oct. 2016.

Can anyone point me in the right direction for helpful study guides or materials? Or any advice from a NH PLS would be great!

Thanks in advance!

I would HIGHLY recommend attending http://learn.unh.edu/training/seminar/spring-2016/324216&apos ;">this course.

The NH exam isn't ridiculously difficult, however, it was, at least for me, the most challenging of the three I have taken (NH, VT, ME).

One thing you will need to know (not sure if you work in NH a lot now), is the regulatory requirements as they relate to site development. That is to say, understand DES Subdivision, Shoreland Protection, Alteration of Terrain, Wetland Permits, etc.

Seriously though, the course with Eric Mitchell will get you 90% of the way there and will help you identify any areas where you are lacking.

P.S., in NH we are LLS's :stakeout:

Paul, besides the course you reference, is there any other books or reference material you found helpful? Thanks

When I was studying I put together a binder with all of the relevant RSA's, Administrative Rules, etc. That helped, besides that it was just the old classics (Clark, Brown, Robillard, etc.)

Get copies of most of the books/pamphlets on the first page here:

http://nhlsa.org/documents/Merchandise.pdf

I've never gone to a review seminar, but if you can get a copy of the material, that might help.

I have my application in for the April exam and impatiently waiting for the approval letter. The class you want to take that Paul D mentioned is "Putting it all Together". I found it by Googling the name and popped up. Just in case the hyperlink above doesn't work. Here are a few things i have gathered online.

  • Recording Subdivision and Site plans; Plat Law
  • Chapter 103 Standards for plats recorded in ROD
  • NH Code of Admin Rules, Board of Licensure for LS (38 pages)
  • Title LXIV Planning and Zoning, Chptr 672-678
  • Title XXX Occupation and Professions Chpter 310-A
  • Title XLVII Boundaries, Fences and Common Fields 472-478
  • NHLSA Code of Ethics
  • ‰ÛÏ A Hard Road to Travel‰Û NH Law of Local Highways, Streets and Trails,
  • Shoreline Protection Act
  • Title XXXI Condominium LaW

I also have 2 books NH PLanning and Land Use Regs. You can get that on Amazon or LexisNexis. I didnt find much use for it since most of it is online for free, plus they left out a lot of pertinent infomation. The other is NH statues relating to Survey and Boundaries. You can get that at NHLSA link John attached.

But most of my material to date is starting off in NHLSA website and browsing from link to link....and now a few more from Paul

Good Luck!
