Does anyone know if a list of errors is available for the second edition of 1001 Solved Surveying Fundamentals Problems?
Specifically, I want to check the answer given for problem #106 dealing with the restoration of a PLSS corner via double proportionate measure. I believe the answer they give is incorrect because they did not reduce the record or measured lines to cardinal equivalents prior to proportioning.
Has anyone else found this? If not, can anyone defend the answer given in the book?
Thanks,
Jeff
Jeff, I'm just curious, could you email me a copy of the problem, please? Email in profile works fine, thanjs.

Just out of curiosity, Jeff, what is the difference in the solution in the specific case?
My edition of "1001 Problems" had Thomas Jefferson's phone number in the introduction, just in case there was a question.
If Jefferson wasn't available, they also provided Keith William's number.:-)

🙂
Hi Clyde,
The difference I came up with is about 0.3' in the Northings and 1' in the Eastings. The difference could certainly be due to my error.
Jeff
" The difference could certainly be due to my error."
I like that attitude.
Good luck on the exam, Jeff, and a tip of my hat to the IUOE.

If you want to email me the problem, I can probably give you a fairly definitive answer. Explaining and defending double proportion seems to have become part of my life's work. There are a considerable number of state web sites that cite my paper:

Perhaps not the last word, but if you want it.

Hi Mr. Wahl,
Did you receive my email?
Thanks,
