A post I saved a while back mentioned a list of books that should be in every practicing land surveyor's library. I can't seem to find that right now or where I moved the link on my computer. I found it on this site somewhere... Either how, I saw a book in my boss's office that listed terms relating to engineering constructs....terms, definitions, pictures...mostly construction (like, wing wall, box culvert, etc. and maybe with pictures) and it reminded me to get one of my own.
Is there a best book out there with the most terms and definitions and pictures that could benefit a land surveyor in realizing what that "thing" he sees in the field is?
I've always liked The AASHTO "Green Book", available at https://bookstore.transportation.org/ . The Hydraulic Design Manual (HYD) - Texas Department of Transportation (onlinemanuals.txdot.gov/txdotmanuals/hyd/hyd.pdf) has some good information in it too.
You might be thinking of the ACSM's Definitions of Surveying & Associated Terms.
I have a copy somewhere (we just moved a few months ago) of "Construction Dictionary". I believe it was published by "Women in Construction". It had a lot of definitions for terms used in construction. My copy is 30 plus years old and I don't even know if it published anymore, but it was of great use to me at one time.

That book is available on the NSPS website for $24.
I did a quick google search, and this is one of the results:

You're probably right.
Are there any illustrations to reference or is it more like a dictionary?
I probably need to get it either way since I'm determined to get a license sometime.

The copy I have is more like a dictionary. It does not have any pictures that I remember.
Great book. I needed it for a state specific test.
