The small town where my son lives is home to two big salmon farms.
There, salmon has become the prime barter commodity between residents and, more particularly, from residents to out-of-towners.?ÿThe locals are well sick of the stuff - and its a treat for us foreigners.
?ÿ
Salmon are good but I prefer steelhead???Around here when the fish are running its not unusual to come home from work with a lot of meat???
Also enjoy lamb but not mutton.?ÿ Hard to find that on the menu here.
Make it stop, please.?ÿ Lamb isn't Mutton ??ÿ thought that was the same thing.?ÿ
Things like that, and the difference between P.Cloudy and M.Sunny just confuse me.
Learn something new every day:
Age: The key difference between mutton and lamb meats is the animal's age. While?ÿmutton refers to the meat of an older animal (typically around three years old), lamb is the meat of a young animal (often around a year old).

Kind of like Veal and Beef; same thing, but different

Those of us that live, or have lived, in Alaska have a saying (it??s even on bumper stickers) ??Friends don??t let friends eat farmed Salmon? as far as being in KS and most other states not on the left coast, restaurants are most likely serving Atlantic Salmon, not as good as Pacific Salmon since most Atlantic Salmon in restaurants is farmed also. I??m pretty confident that my brethren in the Pacific Northwest, and maybe some Californians, will agree.
@richard-germiller King salmon feeding on krill along the west coast is the best.?ÿ The last thing we would do is eat farmed salmon.?ÿ Hopefully the CA DFG will not screw up our recreational season this year.?ÿ?ÿ
Wonder what the salmon qualify as that live in Lake Michigan.?ÿ That's a long way from the Atlantic.
