Happened to look at the moon a few minutes ago and noticed two brilliant sparklers nearby.?ÿ Turns out it is Jupiter directly above the Moon and Saturn a bit to the left of the Moon.

Run outside and see for yourself.

HC,

The waxing moon came up a little while ago here in Lakewood, CO.?ÿ Mars is sitting on top of the Moon. Jupiter and Saturn are a little west of due south. I use the Sky and Telescope web page (link below) to plan my viewing for when Jupiter, Saturn and the Moon are "together."?ÿ The next evenings for what you described in Lakewood is September 24 and 25.

All you have to do is enter your lat/long and then the date/time.

Or free download of Stellarium to your computer. Lots of features to explore and accurate az-el and ra-dec data as well for any object visible with a telescope.

uh...the Moon was "full" on the 2nd. of Sept. just a few days ago.?ÿ That would make the moon you saw a waning moon..technically a waning gibbous moon.?ÿ 😉

We're in a safe spot, but unfortunately, many cities surrounding us that are in the forest are gone. Burnt down to the ground. A 12 year old kid and his grandma died. 🙁 It's been raining ashes for the past 24+ hours. Never seen anything like this in my entire life. ƒ??‹??ÿ

My daughter works for the City of Florence and is working from our house in Seattle this week. Her apartment is occupied by several friends that had to evacuate, I don't know when she will return.?ÿ I've listened in on her telephone calls with Lane County Emergency Management and its a horrible mess. 3/4 of the National Guard helicopters were shipped to Afghanistan a month or so ago so they are not available.?ÿ Why don't we have a national fire service??ÿ We got a Space Force.?ÿ ?ÿ

For those not in the area it must be hard to appreciate just how thick the smoke was around here last week. Doug's picture does not do it justice. Outdoors was unlivable. Even indoors was bad. I liken it to standing on the wrong side of a campfire. For a full week.

I was in smoke socked in Fresno all week.

We had a brief respite here Friday, Saturday. Smoke back today.

Going back to Fresno, supposed to be good down there this week but we shall see.

@daniel-ralph

Quite likely that even if the helicopters where here they wouldn't have been able to fly due to low visibility.?ÿ?ÿ
