I have nothing but respect for you guys/girls that have to work in this. I have a hard time just turning the verniers, even with those gloves with no finger tips!
Wow, that is pretty dang cold. It would definitely be an office day.
Makes me feel like a wimp when I decide to stay in the office when it is below 20°. I have a healthy respect for you guys that work in that type of weather.
Today is probably the coldest day of this winter so far at 25°F and an expected high of 30°F if it clears and that should descend into the lower 20s tonight.
My plum trees put on green buds last week when it was 60°F and had just about began to burst with white until the breeze turned from east to a strong icy wind from the north and northwest over the weekend.
I have a series of 8in to 10in knotty red oak backlogs saved in the stack for this end of winter.
Yesterday was a series of sleet and light mist resulting in a light frosting outside. Another series is expected to come from the Dallas Ft Worth metro area to here on Wednesday.
I ordered a Sokkia Set330R on Thursday and it has made its way to Ft Worth. I hope it is not on that trailer dangling over the side of the overpass.
Schools been called from the fear of ice.
The roads are clear and trucks were headed west all night on Hwy 77. They miss all the overpass and cloverleafs around I30 by going the scenic route.
:gammon: word. What Jimmy said too. Although I am thinking of going out in the woods today just under 20F 16MPH. Might not be the most efficient use of my time. I do have plenty of office work to do. But, dang...cabin fever.
That is dangerous cold for anyone not familiar with how to handle it. Be safe...

Everything's relative, I guess. I looked at the temp this morning, and decided that 41° was too darn cold to be outside, so I'll wait until it warms up some before heading out.
You can KEEP IT!!!!
This is what we got this morning and that's WAY too much. I don't like cold weather.

You can KEEP IT!!!!
I'm with you Andy.
It seems like we rarely get snow here in the south. We seem to get more ice storms and freezing rain than actual snow.
I can deal with snow. Ice is dangerous, very dangerous.
Stay safe.
Local news channel show this is the coldest month on record, in 150 years of record keeping. We've now had 28 days with below zero temps, and nearly 3ft of snow in the woods, with 12' drifts in fields. Had to work outside yesterday. Could not keep hard hat on, simple breathing fogs up glasses and the instrument. I just gave up. Watched one guy lose his hard hat 5 times.
Data controller nearly froze. But one good thing I've discovered is the ToughPad has a built in heater. Gives a notice, it may take 30 minutes for it warm before booting up. I find the battery life last much longer in cold temps, than other DC's.
Panasonic has utilized electric heater technology in its Toughbook laptops before, but this is the first tablet that does so. The heater will flip on automatically when necessary to keep the battery warm and bootable at temperatures as low as -4 degrees Fahrenheit (-20 Celsius). Most mobile devices are not guaranteed to work at temperatures below freezing. The Toughbook also keeps chugging along at up to 140 degrees Fahrenheit (60 Celsius). It does not have a tiny built-in air conditioner, though.
I wussed out. Staying inside:
East coast and south getting pummeled by winter while Alaska is in meltdown. Trees are budding out and I smashed my first mosquito last weekend! My snowmachines and skis are collecting dust. Just not fair. :'(
We panic when it gets below 40°.

C'MON DOWN!!!
The Skiing's GREAT!!!:-O
This is starting to get a little COLD.
Aloha, Jim:
Yes, indeed! Everything is relative. We were bundled up pretty good this morning because the temperature dropped down close to 60ºF!:-)

I can take the cold down to about 5° and I'm just fine. I even work in shorts until it's in the 30's. But what I can't take is a whole bunch of wind, even below 40°, it just cuts right through me... and I'm a big guy.
I also HATE working in the snow. There's just so much that can be missed and is hard to get to. Try finding an edge of a driveway/travel way or a water meter or a rebar in a holler under 12" to 18" of snow and leaves... there's just better ways to kill time.
I reconn'd about 2 acres in a bunch of knee-high, crunchy snow today, and it about wore me out. No thanks. I hope we get some of that 50's weather and rain that they are calling for this weekend, might melt most of it away.
