I have found a truly outstanding friend the past two months. We both love recording things on camera and will stop at the drop of a hat for a photo op. She is much better than I with her camera but sometimes I just get one of those Daryl moments when the frame, light and time is perfect. Not often but sometimes.

This was my moment this weekend. Just a small snap in time as we waded and swam in the river.

And this was as we set on the bank waiting on the sun to rise saturday morning. Gorilla's in the mist. Not a great shot but I have a cheap camera. But the eyes and brains captured it for all time.

He could be talking about a dog (canine, that is).

My question was, "You swam in THAT?"

I've seen creeks like the fist picture

They were just downstream from a leaking outfall.

It's an optical delusion. I think the water is crystal clear and you are looking at moss on the bed of the stream. My first reaction was similar, but a closer analysis suggests otherwise. What I though was frothy foam is dry rocks. The light brown sludge that appears to be on the surface is actually the bed. Right??? Or they could be skinny dipping at the City of Lawton sewage treatment plant, that is probably one of the few places in drought stricken OKhoma with an excess of water.

I can't believe you waded in that mess...

much less took a photo of it, and called it beautiful. I guess that's what the few remaining creeks look like in Chokelahoma. In my neck of the woods, that's called a putrid, fetid stream, and one to be avoided.

On the other hand, the second photo was really cool. In a survival situation would you drink that water?

This is not a creek but is the Blue River State Park near Tishomingo, Oklahoma. The water is crystal clear and you can see 4' down in it. It has a ton of small falls down the river and on the sides you have places like my first picture that moss is growing but the water is still flowing under it.

Another set of falls down the way.

And wonderful big rock outcroppings. This is my friend Tammie and me taking a stroll as the sun was setting.

And this was the picture elluded to on why you "Don't skinny dip in a stream with hungry fish".

This was one of our favorite spots to stop, sit and just contemplate the meaning of everything. We both agreed the answer was 42.

We camped with a group called Rearview. They grew up together but are now all over the country and get together every year. This was the 40th reunion and two of the original members ashes are actually scattered near where we camped.

And this one for Natester. Missing some poles but had trees, electrical tape and some ingenuity. "There I fixed it".

And a better picture of my companion as she held up the mountains with one hand.

I hope that clears up any misconceptions about Okie water.

Beauty is where you find it..it helps if you use the other side of your brain.

I can see the artistic value, I shop for granite a good bit and that pic reminds me of some of the high end stone with lots of movement.

Keep the pics coming Deral, glad you and your companion had a great day!

I was trying to look up some quotes on youtube from O' Brother Where art Thou? about Tishomingo, but found something even better - observed trials at Tishomingo! Did you and you friends put your Harleys through these paces Deral?
