Don't know if I can say I live in the South, but it's close. It gets hotter in the Summer than it gets cold in the Winter here. I guess that classifies it as the "South".
Anyway, this evening I had fresh pole beans and new 'taters. There was even chunks of piggy tossed in there for flavor. Fit for a king.
But the crowning glory of it all was the peach cobbler. Bought the peaches at the market today from a fella that trucked them in from Georgia. My gawd they were delicious.
Granny Cash's super-secret cobbler recipe is alive and well. My wife wanted it ala-mode. We didn't have any of that fancy French stuff, so we just put vanilla ice cream on top of it. 😉
Man, I eat good.
:good: The south does have its perks :good:
Good Peaches, well, thers nothing like it!!!
I bought 1/2 bushel last wk. None left today. The peach eating machines were at work!

The secret to good cobbler is lard.
Same with pole beans and slice or three of back-bacon. Throw in some onion. A proper Vidalia yellow onion of course.
Lard also makes for the best gravy. Forget that vege-oil stuff.
Yeah, a cardiologist would have a hey-day with me I'm sure.
I love some fresh GA peaches. We usually travel down to Jekyll Island, GA around the beginning of August for 10-14 days and we always stop and buy peaches from someone selling them by the side of the road on our way back to WV. Delicious!
You've obviously; never had a Mackinaw peach from Oregon. They're only ripe for 2 weeks out of the year, you know...B-)

It's like having a circus in your mouth!
We usually pick up about 8-12 bushels every year to can, consume, make ice cream and my favorite make some freezer jam...I love freezer jam....Delicious stuff that lasts all year!!!
