As it's going to warm up to high 40's next week, took a peek at my summer ride. Anybody have a summer or sweet ride (besides the work vehicle) out there? I think Dave is standing by his in his avatar. Here's mine. 2006 Pontiac Solstice NA, 5 speed about 30K on odometer.

That's a drive, not a ride.

This is what a ride looks like 🙂

That's okay for a one seater. Here's what I took for a spin in Aruba-- a limousine.

I agree with Jim.Cox; "rides" involve only 2 wheels. Must they run to be shown here? I may be breaking the rule...

Not so fast!

But the cool factor is there and I don't wait for nice weather.

I like. Did you do the conversion to 4x4?
Is it a different frame?

I'm almost ready to start putting some 3/4 ton axles under my 58' Apache.

Currently the problem is I want 16x8 wheels AND be able to run factory hub caps.

It almost sounds like I have to get original split rims and have custom wheels made from them, which puts the whole look out of my price range. Especially considering the hub caps are very difficult to get and are also expensive.

Who would have thought OEM style looking rims w/hub caps would be double the cost of most custom wheels.

I'm running 1973 GM gears and frame. The late 60's and early 70's wheels should fit your 58, both 6-lug or 8-lug as needed. Since that picture, I have installed 16"x6" stock wheels with beauty rings and dog dish caps. I'll post a picture later tonight.

Right now I have 33-12.50 tires on 6 lug 15"x10"wide rims.

I think I am going to buy some 285-75-16 tires and want to run them on 8" wide rims.

The width of the rim, is the limiting factor.

Did you add spring clips to your rims to secure the hub caps?
I'm curious what the cap diameter is.

Mine is the truck in the middle.

Good looking truck.

Those caps and rings are from late 80's, but the mid 60's caps would fit as well. I have a set of 60's caps somewhere for Chevrolet, but I wanted to stay with the GMC theme.

My Summer ride 🙂

It didn't help that the Cat Boat Assoc. meeting was this past weekend in Groton CT. Boy, did that get me fired up for sailing season!
