Is anyone else concerned; that the 3 credit agency's have access to ALL of EVERYONE'S personal information and it's now available for ANYONE to use for their own gain?

AND if this bothers US; WE need to call all 3 of them and freeze our information FOR A FEE. Then, when we want to use it; WE have to call them up again and unfreeze it FOR a FEE!

Shouldn't this be; a class action suit where the 3 of them pay each and every individual involved an equal amount of everything THEY have; for the inconvenience?

I hope this isn't viewed as a political statement...

It's more of a rant on the stupidity of those in charge...

Yes, I'm upset about this as well. Companies in charge of our personal info and money (banks, credit cards, Everything) never seem to take the security of Our information seriously. There should be severe penalties for companies that simply don't take prudent care in protecting my and our info. They don't because it costs them money to keep up to date on all the risks.

I read yesterday that a lawsuit has already been started against the credit agencies, I will try to find that again and post a link.

Well, with some quick searching, I am unable to find the postings I am sure I saw yesterday about a lawsuit against the credit reporting idiots. As time allows (after all, I am at work, though it has been a light day so far) I will keep looking.

Ok, here we go, found what I was looking for. A class action suit against equifax (so far). Looks like No effort was made to protect our info.... no firewalls, that sort of thing. Places like that (who's explicit job is to protect our info no less!!) should be put down real quick by the government or lawyers, someone who is big enough to do so.

Yes very upset, and I don't know if a credit freeze is the way to protect yourself from this.

$70B is not enough. Complete eradication of all firms collecting private information along with mandatory destruction of all records is. Of course this will never happen - we may all get a check for $1.37 or so someday, and the law firm will receive most of any settlement amount.

Well...I doubt if your global corporate masters are going to let that happen.

It's my personal belief that security is POSSIBLE, but with it the government wouldn't have access to EVERYTHING digital, SO we can't have it. Us boomers are probably the last generation that will remember when you could buy something with cash, all details and identity unrecorded. These credit agencies might get their hands slapped, fined and such, but the data is not likely to become totally secure, not from everyone. Death will become the only form of freedom.
