This is day 7 of the most miserable snot-and-hack head and chest cold I've ever had. Thought I was on the mend and went out yesterday and did some field work...today is worse.

"Today" is a relative term to someone that has been eating Mucinex tabs like breath mints and swilling Nyquil out of the bottle. I don't know what day it is. It's overcast so I really can't tell what time it is either.

Cough syrup and antihistamine psychosis has set in...I am all "slept" out...my only hope is that there might be a Humphrey Bogart Marathon on TCM.

I laid my 'advanced directive' out so the wife can find it just in case...phooey...:(

My son came home for his winter break and left today - not a minute too soon for me. I cannot stand the idea of catching what he has.

He had a bug that lasted several weeks, then it either migrated to his chest, or he caught something else.
Uncontrollable coughing fits for the last week has wore him out.

More than likely, all he would get from a doctor is a $90 bill and a prescription for some serious cough suppressant.

This is a fellow Okie. He seems to have suffered from the same problem as you.

Most of my similar to the flu feelings and ills come from basic mold and pollen allergies and screens, filters and ceiling fans that need to be cleaned.

good luck man.....I had that BS for like 5 or 6 weeks. It may have been two separate colds, but I had them both at the same time for a couple days.

Anybody heard of a drink known as a White Russian?

I'm thinking of making me a "Pink Russian". It's a White Russian made with Pepto-Bismol.

My favorite flu toddy is 1/3 lime juice, 1/3 water, 1/3 vodka/whisky, honey and TheraFlu.

Yesterday, I decided it was time to get a flu shot while I was out and about with a day off. (Yes, I know it can take 2 long weeks to take effect). While I was there, the pharmacy suggested a pneumonia shot. "Sure, why not". Each arm hit, don't know what went in which arm..... but my left arm is Still sore. Was Very sore yesterday and last night.

Never had that happen before. But, truly hope I have time for the shots to kick in before getting exposed to any of those nasty germs. So, those who have "it" please stay away from me for a while (no offense meant of course!)

Do you remember the antihistamine "Contac"?

I've heard of a medicinal libation called an "Arkansas Toddy". Two Contacs and a half pint of Beam..Never had one. Sounds too dangerous for me.

I'm actually far tamer in my old age than my imagination would imply. My evening will probably consist of a bowl of Italian Wedding Soup with some saltines and 7up...followed by another snort of Nyquil and a nap..

Started the pneumonia shot about three years ago and get the flu shot annually. Even though I feel like hammered horse hockey I'm not running a fever...that's a good sign.

@ paden cash

you are living dangerously enough with the Nyquil,
I rarely put alcohol in my toddy, the lime juice and honey are a must.
For the lesser ills AlkaSeltzer in 50/50 Orange juice and water.

Sounds a lot like me two weeks ago. Became semi-human again at a week. Doing fairly well now but still have a ways to go.

High salt diet. Nyquil.

You'll feel better, when it stops hurting!
