Some photos I just posted from Namibia... I only got three pages up so far out of 12 but at least you can see a little of what it looks like there... beauty country..
I did chat with Herman the surveyor in Windhoek but the time got awkward and I wasn't able to get over to his office unfortunately but I'm pretty sure I'll be back.
Woow,
we're getting used to your art-work,
but this is a must see ...
this must have been an amazing trip and adventure!
Thank you very much for sharing.
Chr.
Beautiful pictures of beautiful country....thanks.
:good: I wanna be you when I grow up
thanks for sharing your adventures with us.
Ralph
Amazing!!!
Wow! What an adventure. I'm green with envy.
GREAT STUFF!
I'll send a link to my daughter. I'm sure she'll enjoy viewing the pics and will probably recognize some of the places. Did you find any of her weeds?

Love Love love the pics!!! My favorites so far are the money shot, the Springboks, the cool moist air from off the Atlantic colliding with the dry desert air, the Diamond, you bowling on top of that rock, the Kunene River, The family of the Herero tribe, Brandenberg Mountain, the schoolhouse mural, you in front of all of those rocks, and of course the Giraffe!!!! :-$

I always loop this through my head while viewing your pictures.

Great pics as usual Daryl.
From some of them, it looks like the 'damn solitude' you are searching for would be the only thing you will find out there (and in abundance). Seems like a really cool way to relax and get away from the daily grind.
The driving across the ancient crater story was really interesting.
Thanks for sharing.

I didn't exactly get an ID match due to Biological diversity visual stimulation over load ... But as I reflect back on what I saw and look at the pics I'll possibly make a match
Thanks guys..
Its an easy place to travel if you don't mind bush camping 50% - 75%...... and the odd miscreant...... the pictures just cant relay the social interactions when I was around the locals ..... but there is some film..
This is inside the Solitaire general store when I was getting "resupplied"
I notice these level rods on the wall...
As usual nice pic’s. How you can relocate, albeit temporary, from the North Pole to the Equator without missing a beat is beyond my comprehension. And, as if that’s not enough, you are sleeping out in the middle of East Jesus by yourself where things can actually eat you. Is it a death wish or just the urge for adventure from within?
Stay safe B-)
GREAT STUFF!
Mandy looked at your first batch of pictures and commented she was very happy to be there when she was rather than when you were. She said your pictures looked a lot drier and not good for plant collecting. Also commented that your animals did not look as well fed as the ones she saw - undoubtedly because of the drier conditions this year.
Like your picture of the general store below. Certainly not a Walmart!
Great photos and stories as usual.
I noticed the skeleton on the skeleton coast had a boner.
My God Daryl !
Thank you.

That's quite perceptive John... even I had not noticed that and I was standing next to it... When I first saw the skeleton from a distance ... I went holy moly! ... and then when I got closer I went WTF? ... and then I realized there were other people out here ... weird people.. but still people..
Daryl,
If you ever need a camp keeper give me a shout...
DDSM:beer:
(I've have a large collection of cast iron cookware and can do up some real southern fixin's)
P.S. I also have experience in Diamond mining...
You should do a video for PBS or Globetrekker. You would be better than Palin I bet. Thanks for sharing these great pictures!
My niece is living in Aroab, in the SE of Namibia

wow thank you for that photo blog.
a few weeks ago, I noticed on cable that the Bizarre food guy on the travle channel had a show on Nambibia. So I watched.
one of his guides was a young Himba man who had left the tribe.
He returned with the bizarre food guy and they ate some really disgusting wildebeest intestines.
He also met the tribal women who were covered in the red clay/dust.
since they don't have much water, that is how they bath and keep protected from insects. The hair clay also is a sign foir women being married or single.
also explained were the ankle legging/bangles as seen in your second photo besides having a decorative value are also practical as snake chaps.
They also said that they made an incense from a local plant and seeped themselves with it for oder control and I would imagine insect repellant.
stay safe.
and thank you again.
