@mathteacher?ÿ?ÿ it's more of a logic question than a math stumper.?ÿ People measure turtles and cats every day???ÿ I had no idea! 😉
@flga
No, but averaging measurements happens every day, from simple ones to least squares adjustments.?ÿ
But look at the picture carefully. Seeing that the answer is the average of the two given measurements is a pretty good example of using logic to solve a problem.

????
So, how much taller than the turtle is the cat?
So, how much taller than the turtle is the cat?
I don't think the data supplied helps us with that question.
We have a Table, a Cat, and an Urtle (can't have two beginning with the same letter). We know from the diagram that
T + C - U =170
T - C?ÿ + U = 130
Subtracting the second from the first:
2C - 2U = 40
C - U = 20. so the Cat is 20 cm taller than the Urtle.

That was too easy for all you brainiacs except one, and we all know who THAT was. I'm apparently not playing enough word block puzzles or I have to accept my brain is in a permanent glide slope. I'd have to physically measure the table before I'd sign anything.
So, here, chew on this. And "Please excuse my dear Aunt Sally she's helping Mary who very early made Jane some unusually nice pie. (besides ass whoopins that's all I remember from my stint in parochial prison)?ÿ ?????ÿ
@mathteacher?ÿ?ÿ a logic problem... I think that's exactly what I said too.
How much will I be paid?
I get paid for thinking...

Surveying 101....
I don't think the data supplied helps us with that question.
Again I spoke without thinking it through.?ÿ We can't figure out the individual heights but can find their difference.
Line 3 is irrational. School children should not be taught improper fractions nor irrational numbers.?ÿ
Rereading my post, I realized I took off on a bit of a tangent. I was thinking of the "typical Chinese elementary school stuff" and thinking that it's probably a bit of an exaggeration.
Let's see here. It looks like Apples = 10, Bananas = 5, and Pineapples = 5. That should make Green Apples = 5 and leaves Grapes and Watermelons for someone else.
?ÿ
Man, what is wrong with you people? ?ÿAfter several Christmas and birthday presents of puzzles and mind-benders, I had to tell everybody in my family that between farming and surveying, everything I do is a puzzle, and I sure as hell wont be doing any for the fun of it.?ÿ
My childhood phone number (TOpaz 95095) didn't have at least one upper-case, one lower-case and one one special character that had to be changed every six months!
Grapes are zero, watermelons are 4.
