I remember contacting other surveyors during that time period to find out what COGO software they were using and ordering half a dozen demo programs to try out.
Some were weird and some were great and I chose Carlson and have been glad for that ever since.

Work says full steam ahead! Feel free to use your fringe hours (vaca/sick/no pay) to help make up for time lost dealing with your kids/relatives/shopping/whatever! Almost everyone is classified exempt but we keep track of our hours. If you work over the base hours per pay period, you can have it paid out as straight time or save it to use later in the year. No rollover. It gets cleared out on the last paycheck in December and again in February (so it's paid out at the same rate you earned it).?ÿ
I keep going back to work to retrieve this or that piece of computer equipment to make working from home easier.?ÿ
Thank goodness the kids are on spring break until the 6th although we've already been given assignments for that week...which I need to get them working on to help spread out the work when they officially go back to class.?ÿ
Although traffic is much reduced, it feels like there are too people driving around.?ÿ
My team had a weekly check-in call today using Microsoft Teams. 5 of 6 managed to get fully connected. The other one could hear/see us, but his mic wasn't working. I had him on my cell, listening to his comments in one ear so I could relay them to everyone else. So exciting! I picked up his headset from work when I picked up my stuff so hopefully this will go better next week.
We could pretty much take any of our computer equipment home and IT pulled supplies stored for our big conferences for use too. We are not allowed to bring our desk chairs home. I have a decent desk chair already, thankfully.
My experience is just the opposite. I kayaked down the Salmon river in NY during the salmon run and had a hundred or so very irate fisherman cursing at me, trying to snatch hook me, etc. It looked exactly like the picture above. Fisherman can be very territorial.
The only time I have witnessed a similar scene was during spoonbill snagging season on the Neosho River a few miles north of the Oklahoma border.?ÿ Crazy people.?ÿ The water was chest to shoulder deep on all of them across the river.?ÿ I can't imagine trying to land such a beast while also trying to get out of the river and up the bank starting out from such a disadvantage.?ÿ FYI, this is a stock photo.?ÿ I may be nuts but I'm not crazy enough to do something like that.

I??ve been splitting wood the last few days. ?ÿIf the weather would just dry up it would help.
@flga
No recreational fishing allowed...waters are closed.
Yesterday was groomer day for the dogs; we call them pups 'cause they are 12 and 10 pounds, respectively. Turns out that groomer was swamped with calls 'cause they will be shut down as non-essential at 4:30 pm today by the city/county. I guess everybody thought that if you get in and out before 4:30, you're safe. After 4:30, heaven help you.
We have a lady who helps us with housecleaning for a couple of hours on Fridays. Our deal with her is that we will tell each other if we've been exposed or if we're sick and stay away in either case. My son in Savannah is all over me about that, and it may get us killed, but she came today. We'll see next week.
Today's statewide count for NC is 763, up from 636 yesterday, with 3 deaths. This is the 5th day in a row that the exponential growth rate from five days prior has decreased. Projecting the current rate, 0.219, out to April 2 gives 2,843 cases. Twelve days ago, a UNC epidemiologist modeled 4,000 for April 2 if no measures were taken.?ÿ
Well, we've taken measures and this decreased growth rate is a good sign. Lord knows I'm an amateur at this and these numbers are far from conclusive, but there may be light at the end of the tunnel.
?ÿ
The growth rate, or the R0 factor, are strongly dependent on peoples' behavior.?ÿ That makes prediction difficult.?ÿ I read an article that claimed Italy's explosive spread and higher mortality rate was in part due to their family culture - for a while families were still getting together as usual, hugging grandma, etc. Social distancing significantly reduces R0.
That's the guideline that NC is operating under. Schools are closed until May 15 at the earliest, restaurants are take-out only, our county maximum number of individuals at an event is now 10. HondaJet is stopping production at its facility in Greensboro; those things sell for millions each and the list goes on.
Our son who lives with us can't work from home, so he's taking all the recommended precautions. It's interesting that his place has such a high absentee rate because of the single moms and school closings that he's working 12-hour days and 6-day weeks.
Im tracking my incoming UPS package with my goodies I ordered.?ÿ Its funny watch the provided maps they have to see the truck is only less than 500ft away, but in another subdivision and not likely to get here until EOB.?ÿ I may go chase them down so I can wrap up my day and not wait until 7pm......?ÿ :P?ÿ
SWMBO ordered 5 boxes of See's peanut brittle (1lb8oz ea). They arrived yesterday and I've eaten a whole box already. ????
My wife is still working, planning to go until age 65. Much younger than the ugly old geezer here.
She brought home the laptop she uses at work so she wouldn't have to go in. It usually sits in a docking station in the office. She got it up and going on our wifi Wednesday night. Thursday morning it wouldn't work. She tried short and long presses of the power button, with and without an external monitor connected. Nothing more than a brief flash of the caps lock light.
She took it to their IT, and they said, "Oh, that's an HP laptop and a Dell power supply." The battery was down and that's why nothing worked. She's had that supply for two years and never used it because of the dock, and the time on battery in meetings outside that office was never a problem.
I found it humorous what kind of tech problems may be lurking.?ÿ You can't count on anything working until you've tried it.
@flga
Careful.....That's a 20% reduction, and could see a severe retribution if the supplies get lean faster than expected........
Tip for getting fish take-out:?ÿ Don't set your car A/C on recirculate.
