It is shameful that voters in the polls are so ridiculously biased towards the SEC. It definitely has nothing to do with the teams actually being superior to those in other conferences.

Now, that's a bunch of bull from a cow. I do hope this is the only form of "envy" that you suffer from. Conference envy is a terrible thing to watch. 😛

Football is all those

poor kids in the SEC have to look forward to...

If they can't go pro the only thing they have to look forward to is running a drag line for their momma's boyfriend.

It's probably something about how the SEC has smacked around their Northern and Western opponents in the BCS championship game to the tune of 6 straight national titles, well, except for last year, when the BCS had the good sense to put two SEC teams in the title game. 🙂

There are at least 6 SEC teams that are better than Notre Dame. You want to talk about bias? Look at the Notre Dame hoopla.

Those choices and rankings are based totally on the STATS. That answer about the pros or running construction equipment was a terribly cheap shot and about as baseless as the attitude that everyone in the SEC area is a welfare redneck. I really expected better from this crowd. I guess I was wrong. Again. People will always live their preconceived and baseless notions.

The whole SEC bias thing is based on fluff instead of reality. It is not based on stats. You have no offense if the scores usually end up 10-7. You have no defense if the scores usally end up 77-73. It doesn't matter what conference is being considered.

If you actually knew the stats over the entire time of college football, you would never make such an ill informed statement.Simple facts are that for over 50 years the SEC has dominated college football. You cannot just look at the stats for any one year. The mystique has been built over years,by performance, not by word or mouth, mainly by Bear Bryant et al.
Look at the pro teams today. What confereence dominates on the super teams? Look at the current best QB's, linemen, receivers, etc. The vast majority are from the SEC and the NFL PAYS for results, not mystique.
This is all nothing but a bunch of sour grapes and you know it.
The coming BCS bowl will be indeed be inyetesting. An unbeaten non-SEC team against the best in the SEC? It's going to be one heck of a game. Bama is not as strong as the teams in the past and Notre Dame has an unfair advantage in its fan base, but we will see what we will see,

Danny Sheridan

Methinks that ND needs to hire some additional medical trianers and a couple of first responders too.
or they could start saying novenas for a monsoon to develop on Jan 7 and soak the field to make unplayable conditions.

ND was not exactly unbeaten. They pulled out an OT win against an unranked team (Pitt).
I thouhgt they should have tumbled more in the polls but the Northern media bias kept them up in the polls.

Total number of NFL players is one thing. Performance by those players is something else.

For instance, the Houston Texans are kicking butt this year. Look at their roster. Only three offensive players went to SEC schools and only three defensive players went to SEC schools while one special teams player did so. Meanwhile, they have at least 19 players who attended no-name (football-wise) schools like William & Mary and Abilene Christian.

Media bias was in 2006, when all I heard leading up to the national championship game was that Ohio State was the "Team of the Century", that Michigan was only team that could come close to beating OSU, and that OSU would easy crush UF. How'd that turn out? I remember OSU losing by 27 points and their offense, lead by Heisman winning fraud Troy Smith, racking up less than 100 yards?

I also remember the excuses put forth after the game, and perpetuated by the media, that UF had an unfair advantage because OSU didn't play in a conference championship game, thereby giving OSU a longer time to rest and prepare for the game... :-S

THEY ACTUALLY HAVE TO PLAY

Well, bias or not, they actually have to play the game, right? I'll wait till that's done to even think about it. ND is probably over-hyped, BUT, if they win, then maybe not so much... AND, the SEC is probably the better conference, but maybe that's a long term cultural issue that places more value on sports performance than others, which builds on itself over the years.

I really don't follow the details of college football, so I don't care who wins, but..

Either way, the game will be played and one team will win!

THEY ACTUALLY HAVE TO PLAY

I've watched the last few Notre Dame games and see a team that believes in itself and has a burning desire to win. Over rated? I think not.
Alabama will have to come on very strong to play that game. Bama's desire to win will need to be stronger than Notre Dames and that will be hard to do.
This game will not be a blow out but rather a real "battle in the trenches" where the deciding factor be who wants it the most.
This bowl game has the potential to be one of the best college football games played in many a year. I am not a routine fan of either team, but there is no way I will miss watching this one. It will show us what college football is all about.

THEY ACTUALLY HAVE TO PLAY

I agree... From what I can tell, the SEC is all about offense. To me, that gets boring, comes down to who has the ball last. yawn. I'd much rather watch a tough fought battle "in the trenches".

I think either team may end up believing their own hype too much... to their detriment.

Ok. I just watched the game the other night, seemed like they just scored on every drive.. Like I said, just a small sample observation.
