Saw that on the 4 AM news report. He passed away at his home apparently; a luxury in this day and age. He did get to have a long and fruitful life.

I guess the good Lord just needed to hear some blues...

They all leave too fast...

I've heard it said that a good performer always leaves the audience wanting more. If that's indeed the case, they did great.

I shook his hand...

...in 1972 or '73 (For some reason I'm foggy on the exact date...)

I & seven other long-haired, tie-died & blue-jeaned blues fans had front row seats to a Papa John Creach / B. B. King double bill.

Nearly everyone else in the place was over 40, dressed to the nines - tuxes & sequined gowns - and African-American. When Papa John finished his set and B.B. King came on stage, he noticed our shining white faces beaming up at him, said that he was glad to see some of the younger generation in attendance, and shook hands with each of us.

Truly the "King of the Blues".

I shook his hand...

I did too, at the Las Vegas Hilton in 1987. Him and King Kong Bundy of all people were outside waiting on a limo. I was in the taxi line and went over and said hello. Nice guys , both of them.

I'm a lifelong blues lover who discovered BB pretty early on. I was only privileged to see him live three times but he was fantastic. It would be impossible to overstate his impact and influence on not only the blues but popular music in general. In addition to being a great musician, he was also a fine gentleman who will be sorely missed, but his music and his influence will live forever.

RIP BB
