Every day is pi day on both north and south latitudes 3d 14m 15.92654s or on 3.141592654 degrees north or south, depending on your preference.

Sorry, 31415 Does Not Represent A Date

Nor does 3141592654 represent a date and time.

To represent today as a single number would take 20150314, a progression of the year 2015 month 03 date 14. This results in a number so that the next day is always of greater value than the present day and the present day is always of greater value than the past. This implies great philosophical meaning to dates.

To represent the alleged Pi date/time would require 20150314.092654. The previous can be expanded to the smallest decimal parts of seconds. Note that a 24 hour clock not a 12 hour clock is required.

I began using YYYYMMDD for computer report filing more than 35 years ago as it greatly simplified the date sorting. I even foresaw and resolved the Y2K problem because I easily recognized that 2000 was greater than 1999. Even if someone wrote 990314, 20000314 would still be greater.

Individual characters are so cheap in electronic storage that it is totally un-necessary to save a few by creating an incomplete and illogical sort criteria.

So have a happy "Not Pi Day".

Why not use the star date system?

We May Have To Use Star Dates In The Future

If the politically correct due away with the Anno Domini (i.e. the Common Era) system.

By my ciphering, today is 3 14 2015. Lots of hoopla on the news about the date being 3 14 15. That ship left the dock 2000 years ago.

I think some of you are simply averse to eating pie or celebrating the ratio circumference and area have to radius of a circle.

Shaking my head...

That's because they're square.

Come on people, it's not unheard of to write the data as 3/14/15.
