PDF to JPG converter suggestions

I occasionally have a need to convert a PDF file to JPG format. I went to CNET downloads and tried downloading the software they recommended. My antivirus (AVG) went nuts and I had to abort.

I've always had VERY good results with software recommended by fellow Beerleggers.

Any suggestions on this one?

I generally open the PDF using my PDF viewing software, and then copy the file to the clipboard. I will then open Paint, and paste the file into the workspace, and then save the file as either a BMP, JPEG, and work with that.

Pretty quick, simple, and free.

I don't have the full version of Acrobat, just Reader. I was hoping for a cheaper solution (Acrobat is $200)

Here in the "cheap seats" go to EDIT on your menu bar and select "COPY FILE TO CLIPBOARD"..
then paste it into Paint, or whatever jpg viewer you're using.:-)

PDFExchangeViewer

This freeware program (and several others) have an export to image function.

The best 29.95 I ever spent on software went to Software 995, which includes "OmniFormat", among several other nice little programs.

Besides converting PDFs to JPGs, it will convert a whole bunch of formats to a whole 'nother bunch of formats & viceyversy.

You can use it for free, if you don't mind having your browser open to a nag page with every use.

Personally, I would go with Irfanview and after you've installed it, download the plugin pack they offer (click on the Plugins menu item, then download the EXE containing all plugins).

To open the PDF, right-click on the PDF file, then Open With... and select Irfanview (don't set it as default though). After you do this one time, it will show up in the Open With... menu automatically, making it easy to open future PDFs the same way.

Once you've opened the PDF in Irfanview, you can select File > Save As and choose your image type.

I use OPXD to Tiff. It has a free trial. I only use the free trial since I VERY seldom need to take a document or spreadsheet and insert it onto the drawing.
