?ÿ

I find it hard to believe that people are laughing at this and find this amusing. I would not be surprised at all to learn that she has a serious skull fracture and at a minimum a serious concussion.

Yeah, the world is full of a*****es.

In her "favor", she was using a too-small axe for splitting wood that big, so hopefully the skull hit wasn't as bad as you would expect from a full-sized one.

While I do find it hard to believe the writer used the word "hilarious" in the title, I didn't see anybody laughing.?ÿ It's apparently easy nowadays to rile up folks against "people" when those people may not actually exist...?ÿ?ÿ

I used to split wood by hand before I got a powered splitter. ?ÿIt would rebound like happened to her but not that much. ?ÿI used a splitting maul though. ?ÿI also used a log to get the piece you are splitting up of the ground but hers was about twice as high as it should be.

@david-livingstone

I thought her positioning looked a little odd, just couldn't see why until your comment. I always liked the top of the piece to be split around waist high, which made the handle somewhat level as you're striking, or maybe hands slightly higher than the maul head, that way if it bounced it might tend to go away from you.

About 20 years ago I was listening to a couple of fellows who were close to 80 at the time reminiscing about their boyhood adventures as neighboring farm kids.?ÿ One recalled how a few of their buddies were with them one day when the other fellow happened to be carrying a ball peen hammer for some reason.?ÿ He hauled off and slammed it into the top of an implement tire.?ÿ The reaction drove it back and hit him square in the forehead which knocked him out cold.?ÿ Everyone thought sure he was dead.?ÿ Good thing he was hard headed as he obviously survived another 65-plus years to be present for the story telling I overheard.?ÿ He assured everyone present that he NEVER did that again.

I believe she was set up with a stick of gum or other type of wood that does not split with a poleaxe.
