I am assuming they are structuring the deal this way for a tax advantage?

Your know it is going to cost big buck$ when the realtor's middle name is "Aspen".
It's a odd offer none the less.

There is a realtor here that when you see her name on the lawn sign, you know it is going for big money.

They need to find some tax advantages, as much in back taxes that outfit owes the federal government.

For some reason, he refused to do a stock split on brk.a.

You can buy brk.b (same company, different ticker) for ~$142 per share.

> For some reason, he refused to do a stock split on brk.a.

Originally it was based on his investing philosophy; he wanted to discourage short term speculative ownership.

He created the Class B shares kind of for the same reason. Some fund managers were planning on setting up mutual funds where they would buy the Class A and sell low price shares of the Class A fund. He didn't want someone making a profit on just buying his company's stock and selling interests in percentage ownership of the Class A shares.

Now I think he just keeps the Class A around because he likes the idea of it being so expensive 😉
