Don't Like Postal Service? How about gov't Med. Care

> Everybody say "bye bye" to the nice man.

Ban half a dozen more posters who have the impulse control of a chimp on crack and you can bring back P&R for the grown-ups. 😉

Wow, this makes me feel real special with our mail carrier. She's a gem! She'll actually come to the house or office with a package rather than just stick it a notice in the box. She, also, will automatically forward mis-addressed mail form any of my former addresses (three in town). She also will forward my sons mail if he gets any...

She gets presents at Christmas 🙂

Also, one of my better friends is a mail carrier, and he's a fine person!

UPS and Fedex have their screw-ups also. I have my house number posted prominently on one of the front porch columns. UPS left my T2 on the neighbors porch two doors down who also has her house number posted.

even tho we live in the "burbs", we still have our own mailboxes and not a neighborhood group of boxes in one location. Mail is consistant with delivery, and I'd be glad to pay more for the service if they would stop delivering junk mail. I get frustrated with ripping my name and address off mail I have no interest in reading or responding to. Some of these groups - Salvation Army and St Marys food bank to mention a couple, will bombard our home with mail once you respond once with some cash to help out a good cause. I've called and begged them to stop the barrage of mail, but to no help - so I frankly stopped supporting those charitable groups, and found others locally to support. bad enough the "resident" or "occupant" trash mail, but when name and address are even on the inside of the mailer, I'm a bit upset at the wasted time on both ends.
ok - Monday rant is over, sorry.

(50+) my father was a County Commissioner. One of my aunts who lived in California sent my sister and me a gift. It was addressed as:

"Mandy and Andy
Care of Commissioner Tony
Leesburg, Ga."

We got it delivered to home - no problem. It sure was nice growing up in a REALLY small community.

Andy

Yeah, and UPS screwed me when I shipped my camping ear to AZ head of me...

AS for the good ones vs. the bad ones, well we can say the same about surveyors, eh??

I could send something to my mother or sister with just their name and a zip code and they would get it.

Yep, small towns. You could do the same thing to me, even though I don't live there any more. I do still have a PO box there.

Some insight . . .

Got some information today from a postal employee from Akron who worked in that area to help out.

It appears(according to her), that this particular post office was very, very poorly managed, but . . .

. . . to top it off, the postal inspector(I think that's what she said . . . anyway the head-hancho), retired a few years back and was never replaced, until just lately.

This situation was further complicated by the postal surpervisor getting brain cancer and also not being replaced.

Evidently, an awful lot of bad karma . . .

I'm sorry I complained.

Some insight . . .

the head of the local postoffice is the "postmaster" I believe.

I have had relatively good experiences with the post office, but I am sure a bad boss or a bad particular office can make things miserable for a lot of people.

One of my favorite "bad post delivery" stories (actually not bad per se but funny) was when I first moved in to an apartment a number of years ago. I forwarded my mail but didn't get my name on my new mailbox right away. I didn't receive anything for a week or so, and finally got a notice that they wouldn't leave any mail until I put my name on the mailbox. I immediately complied, and the next day I got a bunch of letters all address to previous tenants. I still can't figure out why they needed my name on there. Kind of missed your !#%$¢§©®°æ±¶‹£¸»í posts. Usually about email, but postal mail for a change 🙂

Best thing to do with junk mail

Take the Salvation army reply envelope and stuff it with the St mary's food bank forms and about 20 pennies. And vice versa.

Those envelopes are business reply...

About 1964 my cousin in Phoenix sent his high school graduation announcement to Uncle Paul in our little town. The postmistress only had three Paul's to choose from, but knew my mother had a sister in Phoenix.

Once got mail with just my name and town. It made it to me.

Town isn't much bigger, but big city fella came in and is in charge of the P.O., and that won't happen anymore.
