Your administrator was also found roaming the streets with Daryl. 😉
Nice, hope you guys are having a good time in P-town.

Awww man, we should have met up with you too, Jered!! We'll have to plan something soon; we like going to Portland to just goof off. We could meet for dinner and whatever else floats your guys boats. 🙂
Please tell me y'all found a cool place to have some Bier?!
Oh no!
You found these two roaming the streets?? T r o u b l e......and with a camera. This ought to be interesting...:)
Good pictures, Angel. Just don't let those two get you in trouble 😉
(Geez, how many times did my mother tell me that. I wonder how many times did my friends mothers say that about me:-) )
I think many of us live vicariously through their adventures and it was an honor to finally meet-up with them for food and drink. The weather was beautiful in Portland so we were treated to a particularly nice view at Portland City Grill.
It's very apparent that they are good people.
🙂
Ya sure that water in the “water fountains” isn’t recycled (ie: just recirculated ?) 😛
Nice Pic’s, hope you guy’s enjoy the visit!
Have a great weekend.
PS: I’m still trying to figure out what type of camera Moistner has strapped to him! 😉
Daryls Camera...
> PS: I’m still trying to figure out what type of camera Moistner has strapped to him! 😉
I am not sure what it is, all I saw was CANON. It's attached to him, though, like a Siamese twin!! 😛
We were all waiting in the semi hallway area of the Portland City Grill when Daryl and I spotted a great spot for pics. The table where people usually sit was empty so Daryl and I ran over there to snap pics. I am sure his are way more better than mine!! I can't wait to see them. 🙂

Daryl....please feel free to unlock the mystery.....possibly a cannon eos 300d?
I'd like to know what type of camera Daryl has too since I'm saving up for a digital SLR. Not that I could shoot pics like he does, but I get the impression his shooting gear is pretty practical and rugged.
I guess they call the fountains Benson Bubblers. And like Angel said, they run continuously. No button or pedal to turn them on & off. And they run the same water as the rest of the city municipal drinking water. I think it is fairly wasteful, but the city gets something like a thousand inches of rain a year so if you’ve got a commodity overstocked like that, I suppose you can be frivolous with it. Like BS in congress.
Benson Bubblers!! ?
Finally, a name for my water fountains!!!
Thanks for finding that link, Mike. I enjoyed reading the history behind them. I always wondered what it was and now I know. Now I want to go do that walk and find each one!! 🙂
Thanks for the kind words all... Mary and Myself had one helluva good time with Wendell and Angel..one of those gigs you really didn't want to end .. good stories and laughter... I haven't downloaded my pics yet and now they are riding around in Mary's car some where 🙁 so much for my siamese twin.
The camera is an older Canon EOS 40D that replaced the 20D I used to have that was blown over a cliff by helicopter down draft... The 40D's body is a solid chunk of Magnesium that is drilled out to fit all the components... and yes it is absolutely rugged. The default lens I keep on it is a wide angle zoom 10 - 22 mm that takes amazingly crisply sharp photos (hah...I invent new word)...
But if I have to recommend a camera it would be my dream camera ... The Canon EOS 7D, because it also has High Def Video capability ... as an amateur videographer..(emphasis on amateur) I am into losing the separate video cam I carry. I mean with all the GPS instrumentation and surveying gear...come on...it starts getting ridiculous... If any one is interested in testing them out lensrentals.com rents them at a fair price. But with that being said I am also amazed at Angels Droids camera quality (that is a droid?..right Angel?) compared with the iPhone's onboard camera.

We had a blast!! Gosh we were there for 4 hours or so?? Until we all got politely kicked out. :-/ Next time we can do the Vietnamese place and then go to the Irish Pub you were talking about.
Yeah, it's a Droid. I am very amazed at what quality photos it takes. Nighttime pics aren't as good but daytime pics are just as good as my Kodak Easy Share. The videos the Droid takes are pretty good, too!! 😀
Benson Bubblers!! ?
Angel - My dad grew up in Saint Johns and had a paper route in downtown Portland in about 1930 to 1934. He said it was a tough route and the Benson Bubblers were a welcome relief in the summer. When I first vistied Portland with him in 1975 he still knew where each one would be as we walked around the downtown core area. It was pretty cool.
Daryl,
My first year in college I had a Minolta X570. Not digital. The dark room was the place for creativity. I had a fisheye lens...did some good stuff with that. Your photo's are damn good. You have an eye for the shot.
Thanks for sharing!
When RADU and I were in Portland, the water fountains were something that caught his eye. You would never waste water like that in South Oz....;-)
Have a G'day Mate!
Dugger
Benson Bubblers!! ?
:good: 🙂
They have similar ones up in Seattle, but the Portland ones are much cuter, IMHO.
Your new avatar
Doug I like the new avatar your profile is sporting.
Reminds me of the Mad Magazine "poiuyt":
Yeah... I took underwater photos and had to develop those from film through the dark room.......I was always amazed at the linear process with the chemicals and a friggen Photo pops out...
