Heaven only knows what you might find around my place.?ÿ I have a hard time throwing stuff away.?ÿ It might come in handy someday.?ÿ Thus, plenty to see that appears to need repair..........because it does.

Every day critical items will appear to be used, but quite functional.

When I started here 9 years ago, I boxed 2 TopCon total stations (without batteries or knowledge of their last use), some old Motorola radios, and a few tribrach's that had seen better days. Wrote a letter to the local community college that had a surveying/drafting course, included the estimated value in their as-is condition, and made the donation.?ÿ The company got a tax right-off for the estimated amount and the school gained a few training aids.

Duct tape and WD-40 can fix most things.

"Typical scroungy surveyor" is a description that I have heard used with warmth and affection, one surveyor referring to another.?ÿ You might need to loosen your bun a bit.

@fairbanksls?ÿ

Too many apparently.

I took an opportunity to step backwards into daily grind mud and dangerous construction staking.

Because I LOVE it so so much.

My F2F skills I've been developing will go unused here unless I can sell them on getting I to that game.

Even if I become an LSIT here, it's a 20k paycut.?ÿ Not sure how's that's possible.

C'est la Vie.

If it is in a closet gathering dust I wouldn't be too concerned. Every place that has been in business for a while has such a collection. If it is out with the crews and being used, that is a different thing.

I recently caused some c.1997 GPS gear to go to recycling. It probably cost $100k when new. That is hard to let go of.

@norman-oklahoma?ÿ

Understood.?ÿ This is stuff actively being used. Work arounds and Jerry rigging.?ÿ

It's ok.?ÿ Makes my suffering more poignant for my spoiled white privileged surveying life.?ÿ

@jitterboogie Iƒ??ve had bosses like that. Had one boss, I say hey boss I need a new prism pole. For 2 years after that every dealer person he talked to he would solemnly say he was ƒ??in the marketƒ? for a prism pole like it was a private jet or Rolls Royce automobile. I call it the aggravation factor, a piece of equipment that can work but is always low level aggravating, it robs your productivity and ruins your attitude.?ÿ

My current employer provides us with good stuff and updates gear when it gets out of date, we do things in a day that used to take a week.
