I did some work this morning out on a swanky quarter horse ranch west of town. The owner was tooling around in his Rhino and we wound up back at his office in the barn. After mentioning I like his place he showed me the original investment he and his sister had inherited that made the whole thing possible...
10 shares of Coca-Cola Co.'s original IPO (circa 1920) left him by his grandfather and originally purchased for around 40 bucks a share. Face value it's worth something in the 3.8 million dollar range. With accrued dividends and interest it's worth almost 10 million to the family trust....
Afterwards I stopped at 7-11 and bought a 99 cent cup of joe and sat in the parking lot staring out the window....:(
You should have bought that cup of Joe 50 years ago. It would have cost you only $.05
Do not fret my friend. Money can not buy happiness..........oh wait, yes it sure the He!! can.:joy:
You just never know. He could as easily have blown the whole $400 on shares of Vess, the Billion Bubble Beverage.

I've always held that money cannot buy happiness....but it sure can make misery a lot easier to live with!! 😉
Wonder how many splits they've had since 1920? They're currently trading at $44.68, so at $3.8M those ten shares have turned into 85,049, give or take.

Joining with you now...
I spent the morning looking at a really cool 1885 Victorian house in Auburn. I must be crazy if I buy that place. Wife asked about replacing the original wavy glass windows, I said that would be a crime.
There is shop space in the basement...I'm 6-4 and the bottom of the floor joists above are 6-2.

He had all the numbers and my eyes glazed over about a quarter of the way through the conversation with him explaining it all. I'm not a business minded person and my IRAs show it.
I did remember him telling me his grandfather had been sued by Coca-Cola back in the sixties when they attempted to force him to sell his "original" shares (they lost). He also mentioned his legal/ accounting firm that represents his holdings is in Atlanta, GA....and at any given time they have at least two or three lawsuits with Coca-Cola pending over interest and dividend amounts. We all should be so unfortunate to have to endure such things.......;)

A story in my family is that my great grandfather, who was in the bottling business in the Chicago area, passed up a chance to become the local bottler of Coca-Cola. He didn't like the taste.

I did a survey for the all times greatest salesman for Coke. My wife and I met him at his modest house to discuss what he needed done. He invited to his room called Mike's Room. It had all kinds of Coke memorabilia. As we took the tour he gave us the history on each. 25 of this kind made, 10 of these made, only one of these. We had to be looking at million of dollars worth of Collectibles! He was a very nice man to do business with. My wife went to work for a company that had a marketing guy. He was a cocky smart azz. Always asking about where she worked before, and who she knew. She asked him one day where he worked before working for this company. He said he was a salesman for Coke. A good one at that. She asked him if he knew Mike. She said he looked like a wiped puppy and said Mr. Mike from Coke? She said yea, Mike. He said you mean Mr. Mike! He said call him Mike. Where did you meet Mr. Mike? At his house. You went to his house? Several time! This guy gave my wife a wide space from that day on.
