On a North-South U.S. highway with a speed limit of 55mph, there was a school zone sign added recently. One of those with the lights that flash during the hours when the speed limit is reduced. The signs say ??55mph when flashing?. I don??t get it.
A simple mistake on the sign order, and the person installing it didn't bother to read it and think.?ÿ Does anybody think these days?
Probably installed by a drone.?ÿ 😉
I saw this in Jackson, MS.?ÿ
Trenton, Tennessee has a stretch where the speed limit through a school zone is 30.?ÿ There is certainly nothing unusual about that.?ÿ However, the speed you are slowing down from is 31.
I always liked the sign "Bridge Out, Speed up to 90"
My understanding is that penalties/fines are increased when school zones are active (lights flashing).?ÿ So I suppose it's possible that the sign is correct and is serving a different purpose than changing the maximum allowable speed.?ÿ

Maybe they will be back after a bit and put up some signs raising the speed limit....

SPEED TRAP for Yankees going south. ?????ÿ ?????ÿ ?????ÿ
A friend's interpretation is that they don't enforce the 55mph speed limit EXCEPT when flashing. Anything is possible I guess.

@Floyd Carrington, in the mid 1970s there was a significant fuel shortage when Interstate speed limits were lowered to conserve gas.?ÿ Here in Georgia bumper stickers popped up saying "Drive 90 and Freeze a Yankee".?ÿ There were also some around that said "Yankee Go Home - but leave your daughter".
