I picked up the mail yesterday and didn't think much about it; nothing that needed my immediate attention and I was busy doing other stuff. It was a couple of magazines and some advertising/coupons. I don't pay much attention to magazines any more; most of that type of reading can be done on the internet. I layed the mail on the coffee table and walked away.

I sat down this morning to enjoy a cup of coffee and a little breakfast. I picked up the top magazine and it was xyHt --What an amazing periodical! I probably have gotten these before and never payed attention. Like I said; print is on the way out....

There is an excellent interview with Ken Jennings (Thank you Gavin!) Ken is a 74 time winner on Jeopardy and a Geographer. The world of map making is changing so rapidly, the insight in this interview will soon be old news. I suggest you read it while it's hot...B-)

The power and responsibility of collaboration is a key theme to the publication. As surveyors; we need to share our ideas; learn from the ideas of others. Working together will help the profession from falling apart.

I agree with this based on personal experience. Gavin makes it fun and interesting.

You all are going to be just down right jealous of me then. I was talking with Gavin just after that interview with Ken. Two days later I have a priority mail package with none other than an autographed copy of Ken's book "Maphead".
It's a great read and I highly recommend it.
I was just glad to find out I wasn't the only braniac geek that can just stare at maps and be happy.

It's a good book. Read it.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it. 🙂
