Well, I was watching this show last night and I learned a new word. It seems that the Maine natives have a term for the people from Massachusetts that visit and won't leave. Since this is a family board, I won't post the term, but it involves adding an "m" to the front of a particular part of our anatomy.

Apologies to Don Poole.

After you see them drive, you will use the same terminology. 😉

I'm not really sure how that show came to use that particular definition for a, well, you know.

Personally I reserve that term when I see a Mass. native driving like they are still in Mass. Usually they are "threading the needle" across the 3 lanes of I-95. Of course, most Mass natives will probably tell you that it's only Bostonites and Worcesterites who drive that way.

For anyone who refuses to leave? It depends on where you're from in Maine. In the Lakes region, they call them flatlanders. If you're from anywhere but Aroostook County, you're "from away." Along the coast, I guess we've been assimilated since I can't really tell the difference anymore...

hahaha Tommy, and did they say what we call people from Maine? "Maniac's"

I am well aware of the name for people from "Taxachusetts" 🙂 it's been well earned by those that live on the mainland part, wets of the bridge!!

Would this anatomical part be singular? Never sunburnt? Prone to unpleaant aromatic emissions?

Actually, I have to say the crazy driving isn't what bothers me the most about Mass drivers. What drives me crazy are the people who sit in the fast lane going 65 and NEVER move over. This is after passing multiple signs that read "keep right except to pass." What in the world is up with that?!?!?!?!

I stay in the fast lane because NO ONE is going to pass me without lights and a siren.

I call them "Lane Monitors". It is their duty to ensure that nobody goes over the speed limit as they perceive it to be.

And here are the lane monitors, taken to the absurd extreme:

Tommy

They are referred to using the same term in both NH and Vermont too.

They are known for tailgating and just plain rude driving. When Mass-h*les are out of state in the rural areas, they also assume they are the only ones on the road and are known to stop in the middle of the road for pictures or directions.

Perry

Yeah, Perry's right.... except that we learned it form all those NH,VT,ME tourists that come here! We figured that's how they must do it at home, if they do it here!!!

nah foggy

what us NH'ers drive on 128 in mass, we go about 45 in the extreme left lane and always keep our directionals on, usually in a dilapidated older model pickup held together with duct tape
