The chickens have been laying powdered eggs.

Tom cat took a foam cooler with three bottles of water inside for his last trip to visit his ladies.

The horse was out in the corn field when it was so hot the corn started popping.?ÿ The horse thought it was snow and froze to death.

Any of y'all ever heard of Naegleria fowleri?ÿ?

We Southerners have and usually pay close attention when it starts.?ÿ

It's rare around here, but one lake in SW Iowa was closed to swimming recently because that critter was found in it.

Yesterday, broke the record for consecutive days with a high above 90, in Puyallup; with 6 days. Today should be in the mid 80's.

?ÿ

The record in Omaha was 38 days...

No big deal.?ÿ From June 23, 1980 to September 9, 1980 every day was 90.0 F or higher, without exception.?ÿ Half of those days were over 99.9 F?ÿ with 27 of 28 days in a row exceeding that number from late June through July.?ÿ The highest was 111.8.?ÿ Several were in excess of 106.0.

We used to work out of a van.?ÿ Someone had scrawled in black marker on the inside of the back door "Gawd it's hot - Aug 1 1980".?ÿ It was 109 that day and we were "supposed" to be staking paving at a residential development...I think we spent most of the afternoon playing mumbly peg and drinking water in what little shade we could find.

I drove that van another 5 years or so.?ÿ Every Aug. first I remember that miserable day.?ÿ

You must have been in Hooker that day.

@holy-cow?ÿ

Actually we were in Kingfisher OK.?ÿ We had to wait for them to cut wheat before the dirt-work for the project kicked off.?ÿ Bending down on my knees to drive a hub got painful as the wheat stubble was dried and sharp.?ÿ That was the hottest quarter-section in the county.?ÿ The only "shade" in practically the whole section was a stubby hackberry tree that had volunteered by a pull post at the center of section.

We were lucky.?ÿ We had the company's only K&E Rangefinder mounted on the top of T2.?ÿ Laying out subdivisions was a lot more fun with EDM than with a chain.

Oh, the good old days... ;)?ÿ ?ÿ

?ÿ From June 23, 1980 to September 9, 1980 every day was 90.0 F or higher, without exception.?ÿ

When I arrived in Oklahoma in early September, 2011, I was told that every single day since June had been over 100?øF. And that carried on for another couple of weeks.?ÿ?ÿ

Grabbed a random date, 8/1/2011, and it says 108.0 F.?ÿ On 9/1/2011 things had cooled down all the way to 104.4 F.
