The premise may require a lot of suspension of disbelief but I don't care who you are, Sandra Bullock floating around in her underwear for an hour is entertaining, to say the least.

Get me another bowl of popcorn.

The plot consists almost entirely of "how will she survive the next catastrophe" for event after event.

The requirements for suspension of disbelief are taxing. If you search around you can find a list of 20 serious scientific or factual errors, not to mention all the little ones.

The effects are amazing, especially in 3d. They are wonderful in places, and flat out wrong in others. They do a good job of having things float around the cabin, and then she cries and the tears run down her face. Why is there a "down"? Speaking of down, far too many of the scenes, including the opening one, seem to have everyone oriented to the bottom of the movie screen.

The biggest discrepancy for me was pivotal to the "plot" such as it was. When they get tangled in the lines and are about to slip away, they have achieved zero velocity relative to the spacecraft. All they need is a gentle pull on the line to move toward it. If she bends her knee, they're on their way. But because the plot requires it, even though the physics says it can't be, there is somehow a pull of perhaps tens of pounds-force trying to take George Clooney away from her and the craft.

And various other stupidities. She takes her helmet off at some of the most perilous times when I'd want all the protection I could get.

Never thought you could carry a story with just 1.5 character in a Hollywood top grosser.

Sounds Like The Plot From Barbarella

Also a space movie, every time Jane Fonda got new clothes, within 10 minutes something would happen to rip them to shreds.

For my vote the best Jane Fonda movie ever. As I recall this was before she went to Hanoi.

Saturday Night Live did a funny skit on it. It was right at the time of the government shut-down. They called for help, and a janitor answered the SOS. It seemed that the ground control staff was not working due to the shutdown and the janitors were the only essential employees at work. Pretty funny.
