Last time I got fingerprinted was a couple of weeks ago to do some work inside a TVA plant. Press fingers on a pad, prints come up on the computer screen. Had it done before to work on Corps projects.

I did the same a couple weeks ago, all digital in my case though, TSA has me in their database now 😉

Have passed two drug screens in the last 30 days too, such is life these days it seems...

Cue the Dragnet theme...

Only once that I can recall. 1979 when beginning work for a military contractor. Ended up with a significant security status before I left. Don't recall getting the protological exam, except figurately from some of the higher ups.

One of the funny things that happened while working there was the day we had a consulting engineering crew show up from out of state. About three hours into the day, security showed up to haul the main guy back to the guard headquarters for more intensive background information. Took that long to discover he was born in Cuba. For some crazy reason, that got some people excited. All I remember is he went by Tino and his last name ended in -ez. Something similar to all the bad guys on the TV show CSI Miami.

Nothing wrong with a "prostrate" exam.

You're usually subjugated by the doctor anyway.

It's the other one you watch out to see if he has both hands on your shoulders!+o(

Federal Security...

Had a topo crew at a Maximum Security Fed Prison here in Oklahoma about fifteen years ago. We spent the best part of a morning filling out papers and getting our "Contractor" badges before we could get "behind the wall." About middle of the third day the guards came and nabbed my rodman and escorted him to the other side of the concertina..in the parking lot.

Seems as though when they ask questions like, "Have you ever been arrested for a felony?"...they do their homework.

He had a 10 year old weed possession charge in Texas. It apparently was a probated sentence and all 'cleaned' up. However the question wasn't "Have you ever been convicted of a felony?" The question was "Have you ever been arrested for a felony?"

Apparently a big difference to the DOJ.

I thought the funny thing was that it took them three days. Nothing like a well-oiled government agency.

Federal Security...

One of our Mechanical Engineers worked for CDCR. He said one day they went out on the roof of a prison facility and a sheriff's helicopter that happened to be in the area triggered a big response. He said it was a cool job for a Mechanical Engineer but the prisoner stuff and all the security took the fun out of it, like ugly women baring their breasts, etc.

I have a TWIC (Transportation Workers Identifcation Credential) issued through TSA. We had to do a biometric fingerprint to be coded into the card. If the Coast Guard asks for your card they place it in a reader and you need to use your fingerprint and a password to verify your credential.
Without the card you cannot enter the berth areas without a certified escort.

Several years ago, my crew and I had to get printed for work in a refinery. My instrument man was missing one of his digits on his left hand. Boy that screwed up the software. I remember him asking “do you want me to print my nub?” It took about three days to get authorization for clearance.

> Now the cranial implants... those can really be a bother in hot weather...

They told me that you wouldn't notice that.
