Maybe humorous,?ÿ Driving down the Katy Fwy. there use to almost always be an employee from a firearms store on the side of the road, in a gili suit, with a toy plastic machine gun, standing out there waving at motorists. (wasn't really familiar with gili suits)
?ÿ
There was also an animal rescue center right next door to the firearms dealer, and for as long as i'd see that dude on the side of the highway, i'd always thought it was some furry dog costume, and couldn't quite understand why the animal rescue place was advertising that hard.?ÿ anywho.

Had never heard the term.?ÿ Looked it up.?ÿ Ghillie suit.

hell, by the time a hunter pays for a $1000+ rifle/camouflaged outfit/GPS/and $2500 worth of other "must have cool stuff" to help a human outsmart an animal it would be cheaper and much easier to buy a side or 2 of beef. ?????ÿ
They have far more dollars than cents (sense).
A man bought himself a new boat, a new trailer to haul it, and a new pickup truck to pull it.?ÿ With his new fishing gear and tackle he invested $80,000 in his next fishing trip where he caught one fish.?ÿ His wife said, "It's a good thing you didn't catch two."
Spring is my favorite time of year and turkey hunting is my favorite hunting. It was nice of that turkey to let you measure it??s beard.
@dave-lindell It's not about the cost for that one fish.......the time away from his nagging wife was priceless. ????ÿ

At the end of the day,
Nothing mattered.
Need to breed response from the testicle overloaded Tom ended his life.
That was an amazing experience.
Big birthday weekend for the boy. His father died last month so I stepped up to get my butt to his house and make sure he didn't?ÿ miss the annual spring turkey hunt for anything. SUPER proud as he called the Tom in from about 200 yards, and got him in 15 yards and no blind, standing, unsupported, and whammo.
Turkey is brining?ÿ at the moment.?ÿ

Is that a Merriam??s? ?ÿBeautiful bird. ?ÿGreat job taking that young man hunting and being there for him!
I'm honored that he wanted me to take him, he guided me, I was just there for the ride.?ÿ ?ÿAnd it was awesome!
?ÿ
I was more of a Pheasant Plucker...
was able to "guide" my youngest son to his 1st turkey this past weekend
dont know which one of us was happier ... we got to watch this bird gobble, strut & drum his way across an open field
???ÿ
It??s always better with pics. ?ÿCongrats to you and your son, especially your son.
Years ago, my young son, my uncle, and I were hunting turkeys NE of Las Vegas, NM. I was set up next to a tree. My uncle was behind me calling. I told my son to get behind a bush about 10 feet from me. I told him to crouch down, don't move, and be real quiet. Well as kids do, he was looking around. I whispered to him to stop moving around and just look out over the clear area in front of him. Well, when he turned around there was a turkey about two feet in front of him, He screamed, the turkey screamed and took off running, and I laughed so hard. That was the end of hunting that spot!?ÿ ?ÿ Good times!
IMO, nothing beats spring turkey hunting.?ÿ I really need to take my boys now that they are 9 and 7.?ÿ Not sure if they could sit still or quiet long enough.?ÿ Definitely will need a blind to hide them in!
My eight year old daughter and I tried turkey hunting for the first time this year and filled both my tags.?ÿ She's got a little ways to go before doing the shooting, but she stayed still and quiet and in general outperformed me at that age.?ÿ I got her up at 3:30am, threw her a cold biscuit and after a mile walk in the dark, we were in the blind at 5am.?ÿ It was probably the first time in her life that?ÿ she truly heard each distinct song as the various species of birds competed to be heard: Screech owls, barred owls, quail, Carolina chickadee, mourning dove, and of many more including our quarry.
I'm not a fan of grip and grins because most non-hunters misinterpret them and distill the expressed joy down to some perverse celebration of death.?ÿ We were ecstatic because a lot of hard work and effort came together for us.?ÿ We practiced calling, scouted pre-season, learned about the fascinating life cycles of turkeys as well as the coordinated efforts of hunter/conservationists across the country to reintroduce them to areas where they had been extirpated.?ÿ We got the gobbler in the picture at 9:45am after almost five hours in the blind and had only seen one hen before my daughter and I were able to call him in.?ÿ ?ÿ
