I just now did "clock patrol" in the house to change all the clocks back 1 hour. Now starts the month long assault on my circadian rhythm control gland. Ultimately in a couple of days it will result in me sitting in front of restaurant at 10:30 AM waiting for them to open at 11 AM for lunch. I will also miss most the news programs I enjoy watching in the evening. I will also be awakened at 3:30 AM for the next week or two by 4 hungry dogs that want to pee and could care less what the damned clock says.

I have kin in CA, AZ and CO. It will take me most of the next 6 months to be able to calculate what time it is where they're at when we talk on the phone.

Not gonna be a good week I can tell already...

On the plus side, maybe with the extra hour next Saturday the defensive coordinators for OU and OSU will make it to the game.

I agree, especially about the dogs wanting to go out. I wish they would pick one (Daylight Saving Time or Standard Time) and leave it alone. I don't really see any benefit to the change.

A bumper sticker seen here in Norman..apparently referring to retired Coach Bob Stoop's brother Mike, who is still the Defensive Coordinator for the Sooners:

"Hey Bob, you forgot to take your brother with you."

kids can be so cruel...😉

If I'm remembering correctly, all of the Stoops boys have a strong connect with defense. I think most of them either played defense in their college careers or came up through the coaching ranks as defensive coordinators.

Here in Norman there has been a question that has circulated before each game over the last couple of years: I wonder which defense is going to show up for the game today?

They also have a strong connection to an old geezer who is still able to win games in overtime with a third-string quarterback.

Bill Snyder is probably one of the most influential men in college football today. Under his wisdom K State gave OU and young Lincoln Riley a run for his money a few weeks ago there in the Little Apple. To tell the truth I was surprised OU pulled a W out of that one. And like you said, K State's offense was not looking good on paper.

God bless Bill for his contributions to the sport.

When Lincoln Riley and Ruffin McNeil were OC and HC at East Carolina, defense seemed to rank somewhere behind ordering the right amount of barbecue for the pre-game meal. Ruffin played at ECU and he and Lincoln were refugees from the Texas Tech mess just after Skip Holtz left ECU for South Florida.

They did a good job for us. Lincoln got the call from OU, Ruffin was fired and spent a year at the University of Virginia and then went to Oklahoma. They'll have significantly more resources at OU than at ECU.

Whatever else Lincoln does, he will put points on the scoreboard.

I am again reminded of the old Indian chief who commented "Only the white man would think that cutting the top off a blanket and sewing it to the bottom would make the blanket longer."

MA is currently in discussions about abandoning DST and switching to Atlantic Time instead of Eastern Standard. This would result in us being on 'daylight savings time' all the time. Sure we would have some 820am sunrises in Dec. but it would allow us to enjoy the 82;pm sunsets in June!

It was amusing to drive through AX, which doesn't subscribe to DST, and then enter the Navajo Nation (which does enjoy DST) and have our car phones switch hours back and forth..... smart phones 🙂

I think the Sun should come up at 6:45 am every day. Adjust the time at midnight each night to make that happen.

With today's technology, it would be easy to do. 🙂

Kids around here get on the bus in the dark to go to school and get home after dark.
That is not good for anyone.

Kids around here walk to the dark old bus stop in the rain and walk home from the bus in the dark and the rain. This pattern will continue through February where it may be light enough to just have to walk in the rain.
