One of the classic bowl games of all time was played. The final score was 24 to 23. A missed extra point was the final difference in the game. This was the first meeting of two very famous teams. Both teams were undefeated until that night. The winner came out number one and the loser fell from number one to number four.
Who were the teams and the coaches involved?
BTW, I remember that game because I didn't have any love for either school and was hoping there was some way both could lose. My wife and I spent the evening with another married couple who had nowhere else to go over Christmas Break. Both women were very pregnant. Most of the non-football talk centered around first time experiences during pregnancy. As I recall, both women were at that stage where they labeled themselves the biggest, fattest, most awkward, ugliest women in the world and no comments to the contrary would be tolerated graciously.
and I still don't care for either team.
Funny thing is, the losing team still (to this day) claims to be that year's National Champion, even though the winning team was named the national champion by every authority (except the coach's poll, which did not hold a vote after bowl season).
That team is kind of famous in the southeast for claiming bogus National Championship.
some Armenian guy...
and
"Bear"
They will no doubt claim to be champions this year as well, when they are clearly not.
😉
You are not Catholic?
(A group of agnostics that like to have wine and little wafers at their Sunday meetings)
Wasn't that the game where they invented the gatorade shower gag?
