They are known as Blue Healers (Australian Cattle Dogs). Mother is Blue, Father is Red. They will gradually turn color as they get older. 3 blues, 2 reds (we think) 1 red for sure. The last one is taking a long time to show.

Dad is the red one, Auntie is the other.

If thats momma, she is a blue heeler.

Very good dogs.

The pups look like they are a mix of something else, maybe a white rhino or something, they are huge. lol

Here is what you get when you cross a blue heeler with a black lab.

This is our newly adopted "grand-dog".

Pistol and Bullet are trying to cope with the madness.

Actually she is pretty sweet.

Randy,
Yes, we think White Rhino is correct;-)
At this stage their legs can hardly hold them up.

Good looking mix with the Lab! maybe it is a Heelador?

Nice looking pups and dogs.

Cow dogs must be popular with surveyors. Ours is an Australian Kelpie:

Mike

We had one that could be that one's twin about 15 years ago. Cattle dogs (and sheep dogs too) make wonderful pets for adults. However small children tend to be afraid of them because their natural instinct to "herd" them scares the children. We now have a pound rescue pup that is about the most lovable dog I have ever seen. She lets the neighbor's 4 year old pull on her, lay on her and cover her with leaves. I don't know if I'll ever haved a purebred again, mixed breeds "tend" to make better pets.

I agree Andy about herding dogs’ potential spastic behavior around kids. Sage was actually a working dog on the Izee Ranch for the first couple years of his life and when we got him it was fairly dicey for a while. He’s a serious dog with a serious work ethic and is never off the clock. We keep him well exercised and he’s a pretty happy boy. But he really likes things (children, adults, the chickens, etc.) to move around in tight knit groups. It’s fun to hike with him as he is always circling us, way out on the perimeter, to make sure no strays get away.

Heeler Pups!! - Pics

Wendell and I spent this past Friday night up at the Fergs guest place. We had a great time with them! We had a very intimate Good Friday service at an absolutely gorgeous little old church, and lasagna supper after wards. In the morning Jean brought us Cinnamon rolls!! Yum!! They are VERY nice folks. 🙂

And...I finally got my puppy fix!! AND kitty fix as the two resident kitties, Dot Dot Dot & Ferg, took a liking to both Wendell and I. :dog: :cat:

Thank you both for your wonderful hospitality. I made sure all the dishes were done, cats fed and watered, beds made, and everything cleaned up before we left. I hope we can get back up there once I get home from my trip.

Wendell in the gorgeous church!! He looks just like his grandpa in this pic.

Love these stained glass windows!!!

I could only fit 3 of the pups in my arms. :dog:

LOOK AT THAT FACE!!!! :bye:

I must of held this puppy for an hour. I didn't have the heart to put her down, she was so comfy!! 🙂

Look at that sweetheart!!

Lizzy, the momma of the pups. VERY sweet doggy!! :dog:

Dot Dot Dot & Ferg stole my bed spot!! 😛

Ferg wanting pettings.

Ferg doing everything she can to get Wendells undivided attention. :cat:

Heeler Pups!! - Pics

Kelly got a trumpet gig at the First Congregational Church in Stockton so we went. It is a 150± year old congregation that had sold their 1930 church building and recently purchased and moved into a former restaurant building which works very well, believe it or not. I assumed it was a newly formed church by the feel and friendliness of the congregation and Pastor but nope, they have been around a long time.

I am about the least social person on earth so it is saying something for something like that to make me feel welcome. They had a good hymn selection, one good Anglican hymn to open and a couple of more gospel type hymns that we don't have in our Hymnal (Episcopalian).

They changed the words to the Doxology and there's the debt/debtor thing in the Lord's Prayer but we can forgive that "trespass" OH HAR HAR HAR an Episcopalian joke.
