Moving to Alaska at 60 was a new adventure.?ÿ Thought I'd share some photos from my favorite job to date.
I won't bore anyone with a narrative and will be posting pictures of a job done in 2017.?ÿ
We flew in to Dutch Harbor to await our boat which wouldn't arrive from Homer until a few days later because of weather.
Great pics.?ÿ I still dream of moving back to AK but it would mean my kids wouldn't grow up around the rest of their family.?ÿ?ÿ
I never made it out to the Aleutians but I worked up and down the Nushagak and Multchatna rivers and all around Katmai NP.?ÿ Lived in Port Alsworth on the banks of Lake Clark for a time.
It's not an easy life but I'm not sure that living easy is a wise a goal.?ÿ Good luck and keep the pictures coming.
Just out of curiosity, how hard would it be for a surveyor to get a job up there, assuming that he can get licensed by comity??ÿ

@murphy There is a steady stream of job openings in Alaska, particularly for an LS.?ÿ You can do a job alert on LinkedIn and find most of them all in one place.

We are in need of an LS at the Southcoast Region, which has been advertised with little interest and is open until filled. In the coming couple years (if not sooner) I will most likely be vacating my position also, performing the researching, mapping, ROW determination and acquisition needs of the projects (license not required).
The weather God's smiled on us for most of the trip.?ÿ Probably a total of a 1/4" of rain while we were at Chernofski Harbor for 5 days.?ÿ Very lucky.
