Those of us who have a navigational GPS like Garmin, do you have it set with north straight up? Or oriented with vehicle always facing up? Maybe it's a surveyor thing but it drives me crazy if north is not up!!! What say ya'll?
Originally, I had mine set with vehicle up but it drove my wife buggy so I changed it to North up.
I run mine with vehicle up.
Tip of the day. On Garmin vehicle units at least, if you can create a GPX file ( I use ExpertGPS), you can load that direct to the GPX directory on the Garmin and navigate to your job points with the Garmin, talks you right to them like they were any other address, waypoint or business. This is a great help when trying to recover old control or old job points, usually gets you within 50 feet, close enough to park and get out and look with more accurate tools, a shovel and locator.

North up, of course. My paper map doesn't spin around every time I turn a corner, so why would I want the electronic one to do that?
But I realize it's all in what you train yourself to work with.
I have north up. I would get lost with the world spinning around me instead of me spinning around the world.
North up
I created my own Garmin cursor of my car (kind of a separate disease) from a laser scan, so, ... car up.
North Up and 2D mode unless I'm in a very confusing city for the first time and things are happening fast in which case I temporarily switch to heading up and 3D.
Car up here. I find the visualization easier when the gps car is going the same direction as the car I'm driving.
