Having grown up on a farm with FAR worse smells than that I never had a problem changing diapers.

Had no problem at all when Grandson when he was in diapers.

Now that he is 5 he is really simple to take care of.

So who has experience with cloth diapers? My kids were born in 69 and 72 and all three were cloth diaper babies.

Same here. Cloth diapers rule. But I haven't changed a diaper in over 40 years.  When offered the chance with my grandsons (now 9 and 12) I politely declined...

I snagged a huge box of new cloth diapers at a garage sale a few years ago.  The lint-free material makes the best polishing cloth known to man.

all three of mine wore them at different periods (all three are 10 and under right now).  Two stopped due to rashes.  Definitely cheaper than disposables overall and not hard to use.

Desitin for rashes; works like magic as I recall. My father-in-law brushed his teeth with it once when we were visiting. He got the wrong tube but immediately discovered the mistake.

Be careful out there!

So who has experience with cloth diapers?

Me, sons born '69 and '71 Also remember the "diaper pail" I used to haul to the laundry mat what seemed like 10 times a week. Get great job '79, wife quits work, gets bored and wants another baby. Daughter born '84 thank God for disposable diapers. Daughter and Sons have 4 tax deductions between themselves all of whom always arrive for Grandpa to babysit complete with a "full load" and totally hydrated downstairs, if ya know what I mean. ?????ÿ

Walk down the feminine hygiene aisle with your wife or daughter. Wait until another woman is nearby, then pick up a box of tampons and say "Blue, green, pink.....why are they flavoured?"

Or when you're in the nappy/diaper aisle, look at the weight on the packets and say "Damn! What are these kids eating?"

My missus hates going shopping with me.

I have heard that cloth diapers now come with snaps so that can be adjusted over several sizes to match the baby as it grows.?ÿ Don't know.?ÿ Maybe it's just a young wive's tale.

You haven't really lived unless you've stuck a safety pin bone-deep in your off-hand index finger. You remember, that's the one that goes between the diaper and the baby so that the baby doesn't get stuck.

Blood, s**t, and tears.

Oh, I remember well.  Daughter number one was definitely a cloth diaper baby.  Oh, the smell from that nasty diaper pail, too.

Then I got a real job.

Ah, yes, the diaper pail. A couple of weeks after the twins were born, our good friends from a neighboring town paid us a surprise visit. Our house was 1100 sq ft, so a smell anywhere was a smell everywhere, and the diaper pail was full.

That was their last visit to our house.

I guess I was just a young and dumb hay seed at the time but I kept the diaper pail on the back porch...outside the house.  I guess I was lucky in the fact the washing machine was out on the porch also.

But I did have to keep a brick on top of it to keep the dogs from rootin' around in it... 😉
