I lived in the Vancouver area from 1969 to 1995. In 1970, at the age of 10, I was in the Pacific Coliseum for the Canucks first NHL game.
the Canadian invasion of California happens every March. After seeing about a thousand Canadian license plates on the highway one March I asked an apparent native of BC why I was seeing so many Canadians and he said "we get sick of the winter weather up there so we like to go south on vacation in March."
