After the first quarter, there's a marked difference between an SEC team and a "national" team.
Wonder if that will continue for the rest of the game?
I don't have espn, whats going on? And what do you mean Cliff? And ROLL TIDE ROLL!
and it's been whined here that there is no reason for SEC teams to dominate the polls and bowl games? Keep watching and you will see why. It's not a fluke. It's football at its best. 😛
Guess I'll have to check the news to find out whats going on!
BAMA......28
Notre Dame....0....NADA......ZILCH!!
and that's the HALF TIME score!!
Wow, this is going to be a tough second half ND isn't going to let that go! ROLL TIDE ROLL! I hope they can hold on!
The SEC championship game was the national championship game.
make that:
Bama........35
Motre Dame.......zip......zilch......nada.......0
42 to 7 :-O
ROLL TIDE!!!!
OK 42............14
they're getting closer!! :excruciating: :-O 😛
undefeated Notre Dame did not catch up
The SEC rules!! Cannot argue that FACT!!
So who's the "also ran?" PAC12? BIG10? ACC? One of these conferences is gotta be next to the SEC ... which one?
I just wonder in a couple of years when they start the "play offs" for college teams, when are these young men going to have time for academics? Is there really going to be time for them to actually get an education?
If I recall correctly, Notre Dame is number one in the nation for varsity football players actually graduating with a degree! Since everyone is not going to get into the NFL, they're going to need to know how to earn a good living doing something else other than football.
Alabama Ranks Tenth In NFL Draftees, Notre Dame Is Sixth
That might lead one to believe that of all those aledged student athletes at Alabama, a good number are too dumb to play in the NFL.
List of NFL draftees 1992-2011
1/ Ohio State 117
2/ USC 111
3/ Tennessee 109
4/ Florida 108
5/ Nebraska 103
6/ Notre Dame 96
7/ Georgia 94
8/ Penn State 90
9/ Michigan 86
10/ Alabama 81

No, it probably means that they got their degree in something other than P.E. and went on to other professions. 😛

1) Going back to 1992 is a bit much if you are talking about the quality of players Saban recruits. Bama had many crappy teams and coaches prior to Saban. How about reposting your stats since Saban took over if you are trying to make a point relevant to today?
2) OSU is #1, and they are pretty much known as being a football factory that shuffles half-wits through to keep them eligible. The SEC, as a conference, actually has higher admittance standards than the Big 10. Just ask Mich State WR Plaxico Buress, or Ohio State linebacker, Larry Grant, two name two, both of whom were denied admittance for academic reasons, but landed in the Big 10 without a problem.
Alabama was playing Texas hold em, and Notre Dame was playing 52 card pick up.
I'm a Tennessee fan and I'm definitely no 'Bama fan, but, rooting against the yankees is more important.
Cliff,
There has always been time for academics. Look at the other college football playoffs and see that they play an extra 4 or 5 games in the playoffs and they don't have a problem. Start the playoffs the weekend after Thanksgiving then skip a week for finals and then play through the New Year on weekends. Or set it up so there are 10-12 days between games so they have enough time for school. That gives you 16 teams in the playoffs and the winner would play an extra 4 games.
You could still have all of these bowl games that don't mean anything but the playoffs could also be setup for these towns that don't want to lose the revenue of a bowl game.
Having 30-40 days between some of the last game and the bowl game is stupid but it is only a money grab by the BCS and NCAA. Adding these playoff games would only add more money don't you think.
I arrived from Miami at 3 AM and just now am getting settled down from the excitement of the game! The Notre Dame fans were quite loud until Alabama's second TD in the 1st quarter.
It was a wild experience for me and the craziest 24 hour trip I have ever taken!
